Hello, I need to put a speedo into the cruiser. ITs a more or less stock 1969 FJ40 It has a custom gauge cluster with autometer gauges. I haven't put a Speedo but need one. I was going to buy a 3 3/8 speedo and attach it ontop of the dash or to the steering column. I was curious about any tips...
Don't know about Painless, but the knockoff brand from JTOutfitters, well lets just say I wouldn't be surprised if I went gray from it (and I'm only 19). The big difference that I would say is definetly worth the money is that it looks like from the pics of the painless kit that it includes the...
I'm actually doing the exact thing right now. So far it is exactly bolt on. The only thing though is that I'm not sure if you can use the linkage from a four speed. You might be able to but it seems to me IIRC that the 4 speed linkage is a little longer in one place or another than the 3 speed...
I had the same problem with my lights not brightening or going blinky, blinky as you say. With me it was just that I had the turn signal wires hooked up wrong and the rear tail lights, on one side the wires were backwards. Anyway, as I remember it was the difference in like one or two wires...
I need to add flashing hazard lights to my rig not real sure how to do it tho. If I bought two amber colored LEDs from a trailer place, how would I have to wire them in order to work. I know I need a flasher, but what is the sequence of how i wire it all together. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys, those are some great suggestions, Good suggestion ofthe toy club numbers and having em handy hadn't thought of that before, Same with the Toy trail writeup. Ill be sure and take alot of pics, Im planning on hitting a few of the more famous trails like the rubicon/moab, maybe a few...

Re: Jerking, hesistating, bogging, at highway spee
hey I installed a new weber and had the same prob. I think I had it before but Im not sure, anyway it was the fuel
pump that wasn't working right. I got a new one and it was fine.
Thanks that does straighten out alot, could u elaborate on a 6 pole on/on/on switch i don't know what that is. Also is the motor grounded internally. also does the switch have to be grounded or is it internal too (or is that dependent on the switch) Thanks man
Ok, I sent the power wire of my new harness up to the wiper motor and attached it to the blue wire coming from the motor. I ran the blue/red wire to ground. I ran the blue/white wire to a standard three position marine toggle switch, the switch has 3 connection posts (batt, circuit 1, circuit...

I am getting ready to put in a sound system in the cruiser. Having never had a radio in her im ready to hear something different than the engine noise and the wind. I am going to go with a stereo in a Tuffy center console, and put speakers in the dash. I was thinking of an amp underneath the...
I went the cheaper route of JTOutfitters harness by a company called Kwik Wire. Spend the extra money and go Painless I wish I had the money I saved by buying cheaper was quickly lossed because I had to buy all of the connectors. It looked like somebody just grabbed a handful of random...
Hey, i just hooked up an aftermarket horn. It works fine but I took the cap off the steering wheel (69 FJ40 stock steering column) and took the little spring thing out. Pushing on just that I can make the horn work every once in awhile sometimes it gets stuck until I yank it out. Any remedy...
Thanks degnol but I already have my old hazard warning switch. I am rewiring my FJ40 using a wiring harness from JTOutfitters and there is a supplied power wire that is marked hazard lights. Since that doesn't work I don't know what wires to run where. There is a flasher installed on the...
Ok, so I've got a power wire that is marked hazard lights, I tried to connect it to a standard push pull switch and grounded it but nothing happens when I pull the switch. In the wiring diagram there are alot of wires going into the switch, what wires do I need to hook up and is there a special...
I have found that in my rewiring the factory chassis and body manual is the most helpful It has detailed drawings of the plugs on the switches and describes what wire goes where and what color of wire it is. I have a 69 FJ40 and this manual has helped me out like none other.
