    wompser's m416 trailer build

Wow... just realized that this thread has over 100,000 views. Crazy! I changed my email a few years ago and forgot to update it on this forum. My apologies to all the people who DMd me over the years who I never answered. The trailer is still doing great! Unfortunately it's been kept...

I think you might have answered your own question! had the tires had the same bolt pattern, i'd consider it... but at I think the tires were around $300 each, plus $200 a wheel, plus around $100 for spacers, it just didn't seem worth it. additionally, the tires being wider and backspacing...

oh, and yeah, I should prob. do some cross posting to other forums, but i just haven't gotten around to it! maybe I'll do it when I build out my top for the trailer.. which is coming this spring! (hopefully?) what can I say, I have more projects than time!

thanks to everyond for the kudos! I never expected to be an internet celebrity, but someone actually flagged me down on the road and mentioned that they had seen this forum and liked my build! kinda crazy! anyway, I haven't been on here much but wanted to catch up on some questions that...

fall update I've got a couple small things that need to be adjusted. that wheel setup on the landing leg turned out not to be beefy enough... it's bending a bit. now that I've lifted both the jeep and the trailer though, I can fit a larger wheel under there. fabricating a top is also on the...

you can do it! believe me, if I can restore one, you can too. I didn't even know how to weld before I started this trailer. I'd encourage you to get that trailer... you'll have a lot of fun pulling it apart and putting it back together!

I've been so busy with other projects, I forgot about the trip report! took her on the maiden camping voyage a few weeks ago, and it was awesome! the only thing that didn't go according to plan was that I forgot one of the hookups to the water heater, so we didn't have hot water. also found out...

trailer table sorry, I don't have the table handy, but I can tell you a bit about it. it's 4 feet wide, by about 2 feet deep. I made it 4 feet wide so that I can easily use it as a shelf inside the bed, it fits in between the rails, and rides on the diagonal part. (if you've ever put a sheet...

uh... yeah! actually coca-cola, but I do work on the powerade, vitaminwater, FUZE and NOS brands. how did you know that?

    wompser's m416 trailer build

did a little more work, and the trailer is "done" for a little while... at least until I get the lid made! shortened up the landing leg, and put a couple of wheels on it. this is what I started with originally: but with a little welding, grinding, rebuilding and swearing, I now have...

    wompser's m416 trailer build

it's been a while since I posted here, but to answer a question from before, i needed to to the lift because now that the trailer is so long, I really need to get it up in the air so it dosen't high center. there's a lot of distance between the trailer axle and the rear axle of my jeep...

fair comment, that's not a bad idea to connect them. I'm not sure it will work in the back because I was planning on mounting a spare in there, but up front it would. the SOA lift, if memory serves, adds about 6-8 inches. it's a lot, and mostly it's because the spring pack is so thick...

    wompser's m416 trailer build

it's been a little while since my last update, but thought I'd show a little progress: the trailer got a 4" lift. (the jeep's next!) I was concerned that I SOA lift would be too high, so I did it a little differently than most. basically, it's a box made of 2X4 steel...

    DIY Sandblasting

full disclaimer: I don't know what I'm talking about, though i've had a tiny bit of experience. I sandblasted some spots on the underside of my jeep in college. it was a really messy project, and that compressor is likely not big enough. the one I got I rented from a local place, and the...

    m101a cnd lids

I have a feeling this thread might get a bit overwhelming! I was considering making a very similar top to yours, but I'm going to make mine out of aluminum, for a 416 trailer. (yours is steel, right?) i'm not really sure what "fair" pricing would be, I haven't figured out what mine would...

one other small update: got the pressure washer fixed to take the paint of the top, but it didn't exactly make the paint explode off the top in the way I was hoping.... in fact, it didn't seem to do much at all. it seems like in some areas the paint adhered the way it was originally intended...

M416 Trailer options and general facts.

both of them look pretty good actually, but it all depends on the rust. I'd maybe even buy the one you don't wind up with! check out the rust situation, buy the best one, and tell the seller there's a line starting for the other one!
