Thanks for checking in 👌 that egt did me well. Swapped the gauge once, probably in 21. But it also failed. Worked like it should when it would, so I'll probably just have to put a better gauge in.
Probe placement seems to be good, quick solid readings and no cracks after all these years...

Only thing I've had good luck with is called Polytrol, but it's a bit sticky for a year before it dries up completely.

I watched your YouTube video on this. Had to find my old lovely key from my 81 hj60. I love it! It does have some use,and a lovely patina. Seems like it's softer than anything else.
When I tried it in my other cars, I did bend it a bit, and could bend it back with my pinky.

Do you have the FSM and wiring diagram? Ground points are listed, maybe you should try finding them all and cleaning.
From memory i think there's one or two up in the kick panel for all relays and cluster grounds. Actually both ps and ds.

Soo, while messing with this, have you guys found a way to power the heat in the seats without any of the BMW switches and tech? Just a 12v to any of the pins?
Maybe I can do a timed relay?

Anyone retrofitted a dimmer switch? im super sensitive to bright clusters, get aggressive right away.
Never thought of vinegar. I've used dish washer soap taking it for a drive. That's entry level, cleans lots out.
Heater works a test afterwards...
But i will up my game to vinegar next time, maybe I'll get some more crud/rust out!
