I drove the truck a little more to warm it up for some further tests and noticed that it would run OK for a couple of seconds intermittently.
I re-ran the combustion gases test with the block tester, it was negative. Did it twice.
So far:
No oil in the coolant.

So I’m happily driving along a 45mph and suddenly my truck (96, 116k miles) starts running rough and the check engine light comes on.
Thankfully I’m only 2 miles from home because it doesn’t want to idle at stops and lost a lot of power.
I pull the code , PO306, #6 cylinder misfire. It...
My neighbor owns a discovery which he is constantly wrenching on, he's always telling me one story or another about this shortcoming or that.
His truck blew its tranfer case last week. It still sitting somewhere out in the Anza-Borrego desert.
Good thing he's a Land Rover/Range Rover...
My 'D' light never worked until this weekend.
I was out in Death Valley going to the Racetrack and all the vibration from the washboarded road caused my light to come on.
I can't get use to it.....

I retrofitted Toyota lockers to my 96. I replacing the wiring harnesses from the rear locker to the main floor harness at the drivers side rear quarter but I found my rear locker wouldn't work. Guess what? The main floor harness was missing 5 wires. No way was I going to buy and replace that...
My 96 LC also vibrates with the AC on. I took it to the dealer but they were unable to correct it. It does not seem to me that this should be normal. A couple of questions...
1) Does anyone have a smooth idle with AC on?
2) Of those who don't have vibration how much does the idle increase...
My ABS light comes on intermittently, so I'm going to try to debug the problem. To do this I will need SST 09843-18020, the picture of which in the factory service manual looks like just a piece of wire with clips on the ends.
Anybody ever used or seen one of these? Know what one costs...
I have the "low lift" OME sping/shock setup on mine, mostly because I wanted to make sure it still fit in the garage with my African Outback roofrack and I didn't feel like installing the caster bushings.
The advertised lift is 10mm front, 20mm rear. I ended up with about 30-40mm lift at both...
I just replaced the idler pulley on my 96 LC, the complete pulley was $33. While a new bearing can be pressed in, its not worth the hassle. Its fairly easy to replace, just remove the splash shield from under the radiator/fan belt area, loosen the AC belt, remove the center bolt on the pulley...
A Borla cat-back won't work, it fits just like the OEM system. I wouldn't recommend one, they have a annoying drone on acceleration and at freeway speeds. I took mine off and went OEM.
Any decent muffler shop can add the resonator for probably around $100-150.
