Sold! And to a Toyota guy! He had not heard of this site so I gave him your info. Enjoyed hanging out with you guys in the trailer section over the past 8 years building different trailers. Thanks for being nice to a Jeep guy while I was here. Good luck to everyone! Moving to a 4X4 motor...
I am out of town on work, but if I remember correctly the bottom of the RTT sits at 73 or 74" as I wanted to be able to walk under it and fully extend out the awning room and that was the height Tepui suggested. I believe the top of the tent when closed is another 10 or 12". This could easily...

Any pics of your tire combo? I am going to be taking my trailer cross country and figures that it might be a good idea to replace the original 1966 military tires first!
You may even consider taking the tent off and selling it separately. You might be able to get more for just the tent and then sell the trailer portion to someone else. Here is a link to another forum where items like this sell fairly well. Those tents are hard to come by and someone there...
If you don't need the tongue for extra storage this is a super easy and cheap way to mount it. I have had mine like this for several years with zero problems. It could be mounted even closer to the tub if I did not have the RTT on it.
I just went to Lowe's and bought some threaded rod and some...
The Bulldog are supposed to be slack free and do not make any noise. I use a regular pintle hitch and it has served me well. I am not sure how anything can swivel more than a pintle hitch and they are indestructable. With all the other road noise I never hear anything from mine unless I...
What store did you get it at? Let us know how the texture comes out. I used Herculiner in the past and it held up really well, but had a rough texture to it that was hard to get mud out of.
I know I will probably get blasted for this, but I think my M416 has the original 1966 tires on it. I keep checking the air and they don't loose a pound, ever! There are some cracks on the tires so I did get a spare wheel and tire online through ebay. However, it looks the same as the two...
I also went with the gate hinge idea. Bought mine at Lowe's. I was worried about junk getting into the piano type hinges. As mentioned it is really easy to unbolt and take off if needed.
Somebody needs to buy this one! What a great start, add a tent top to it and do a spring over and you would be set. I would be all over it if I did not think that the wife would make me sleep with it for bringing home another toy.

While not towed behind a Toyota, I took mine on the Rubicon with just a spring over, new shocks, stock military tires and wheels and standard length tongue. My tent is nice because it is so big, but it also hangs over the sides almost even with the fenders and I only touched once and a quick...
What exactly are you looking for in an M416 for the trade?
Post some pics of your trailer if you get a chance, I am curious to see what a 15k trailer looks like.
I have a regular military style pintle hitch and a plate like the one you posted above. I like the plate because I can just take the pintle off and adjust it up or down whenever I am using another tow vehicle to keep the trailer level. I have never had a problem with the hitch binding off...
