Picked up some 9kg bags of pet safe -26* Ice melt on sale. Reg $30 at Walmart. If anyone is interested, $10 each or 2 bags for $15. Let me know I bought extra and we can work something out.
I saw this and rather than thinking how cool… thought what a waste… perfectly good tub, hardtop and doors. It’s not like it would be an awesome trailer. For what those parts are worth here, you could buy a far more useful trailer.
ICBC is a major deterrent… :(
When I’m working on the 40 and life is crazy busy it’s harder to justify insurance on 3 vehicles. 95% of the time I’m the only one driving them in our house. The car sips fuel so it pays to insure it… The ambulance can haul 2 decent sized dogs, 7 passengers, a set...
Never had a n.a. 7.3, but the turbo one cruises along pretty well. It was an engine built to work, and it does the job well.
A friend of mine drove tow truck in Calgary… one of their trucks that they regularly flogged was pinned at 99,999 hours on the hour meter. It had been there for many...
Checked the ambulance toe in… not so fortunate. It was toed out about 4 mm. Adjusted it to 3 mm toe in and took it for a spin.
The alignment was decent before, but it sometimes wandered a bit. Now it tracks perfectly straight, the steering wheel is straight, and it practically follows the...
Wheel alignment check…
Push pin method:
Started with two pins 14” off the ground at the back of both front wheels.
Drove forward 1/2 a revolution so the pins were 14” off the ground again.
By my eye +/- 3mm.
Given that since the 40 was last on the road it has a new rebuilt front end, new...
I guess my Toyota doesn’t count since it has an engine swap… I’ve dragged a 15 ton truck out of our yard with it. Don’t need no Cummins… :D
That said, the 90” wheelbase wouldn’t be idea.
Although the rig with the 7.3 PSD would be my vehicle of choice for that job.
Before I pulled out the pins and tape to set the Toe in…
Before L 36.5”.
Before R 36.7”.
After L 37.6”.
After R 37.8”.
I’m not sure if I like the shackles at 4.5”, but I’ll try them out before cutting them down to 3.5”. The castor shims correct the castor… and they lift the front 1” and...
I’m not sure if I want to go quite to 4.5” C-C shackle, but I had these on the shelf so I figured I’d run them as is before shortening them to 3.5”.
With the castor shims in place, castor is back to stock.
Before.
After.
Clearance to the shackles is still about 15”. So no big loss there...
