Hey Nick,
I've got a handy little "Trip bucket" that I've put in the back of my 80. Got all kinds of handy stuff in it in case of emergency etc... Let me know if you wanna throw it in the back of your truck for the trip. Get me on my cell if you want.

Mine went unserviced until I bought it. About 136k. They were both basically destroyed and needed to be replaced. Splines were worn to a razors edge on one, and the other had a basket that was incredibly loose.
Thought maybe somebody would wanna look at this, for parts or ??

Shouldn't chip. For good order sake, put some masking tape over the area you're gonna drill. Start with a small bit, and work your way up to the size you want.
Tell me about it. I've got 53k in the TT. With 11k on the clock and 3 years old, I'll be lucky to get 28k total, WITH selling most of the mods seperate. Sux! Either drive the LC or get as safe a sh!tbox as you can. I'll give ya the Germans there, they do make a safer small car that pretty much...
Hey Andre,
Get the sh!tbox. Cause you don't know what's gonna happen with your company, and you'd be bummed to have sold off your cruiser in the event that you didn't need to. When I was driving 35-40k per year, I always had a small sh!tbox to drive for work. Mostly Hondas. The German rigs I...
Welcome in..... Now, go service your Birfields!!! They prolly need it. ;) Mine did. In fact both Birf's were destroyed and needed to be replaced. My local Toyota dealer thought since they're "sealed" they didn't need service. Freakin' tools that they are. :slap:
Oh yeah.... Bouncing boobies...
Not sure if this is helpful at all, but.....
I tried to chase down a similar problem in an Audi, and it turned out to be a timing issue. I know VERY little about tuning the LC engine, but might be worth a quick look?!? On the Audi, it dropped the HC from 998 ppm to 68 ppm.
The other thought...
Haven't done this yet on my Cruiser, but I'd try heating the ends with a torch if you have one. Just did a set of exhaust bolts on a 150k mile car and heated them till they were glowing orange. Came off like butter.
144k with no problems other than that the PO took it to a Toy dealer that didn't know Birf's needed to be serviced. :slap:
So I just had to replace to birfs. Other than that, only routine maint. Luckily, he did all that. Be sure if you look at one that the Birfs and cooling system have been...

Another thing that's helped quite a few of my searches is to change the "Search -All- Members only" box to "Any poster". Sometimes that increases hits by a bunch. Not sure if it's actually a function of the posters or the search engine. But, it helps.
Also, using ONE word in the search...
