:DProps to the IH8MUD members who helped me out while looking at a rig in MA. Something I would have to fly out to do on my own.
-S.A.- went the extra mile and checked out a vehicle for me, crawled under it, took pics,. . . all in the snow.
Wrench, LandTank, and Bjowett were also willing...
1987 FJ60, 211k miles with original radiator, in Colorado. Has had some minor troubles over-heating on long climbs. SO, I go slow (is there any other way?). But, this morning, I'm almost convinced that it only will overheat when the heater is on 'hot'. Does that make sense? Usually, you'd...

Don't know how reliable the info is, but a 160 thermostat doesn't sound good. Man, I'd hate to second guess Toyota though . . . :-\
:DSure, I'd love to see more of your 60 picture collection. There's no doubt in my mind that they look beautiful from the side view, angled away, towards, from rear - heck, they're a gorgeous vehicle. Thats why I got one. The one I saw on the highway just looked really narrow when viewing it...
Been planning and scheming to start my spring over on my '87 FJ60. Have seen several that look real good, and I like everything that I've read about the performance. Was driving down the highway this weekend and saw a lifted 60 (don't know if it was SOA or not) coming in the opposite lane, but...
Did my 60 a couple months ago. It is physically hard, but not too technical. You can do it. It took me and another guy a full Saturday. We did not have a proper tranny jack, so the balancing act is not that fun. Plus we were drinking beer. Change the rear main seal, tranny input seal, and...
Can anybody explain this?

I've owned both. I've used BFG MT's in Texas, Idaho, Colorado, and Alaska. They handle just fine on ice and snow. If you don't off road much, they will easily last 40k. Sit 'em next to an AT, . . .they look so much better. MT's, no question in my mind.
Whats everyones experience with some of the new OEM replacement radiators? I'm looking at one for an FJ60. It says that its got copper and brass 'top quality' innards, but I've read a couple of posts from people who've had trouble with aftermarket radiators. Its a good price, slighlty more...
Need some help diagnosing this problem:
Just bought an FJ60, fired the engine up, sounded good. As we check everything out (vaccuum leads, hoses, etc.), notice that the exhaust gas pressure is strong. Continue to play with things as the motor warms up. It revs up good, no noticeable...
