    Skinnies

I have run 35x10.5 Super Swamper Radial SSRs on my 1994 FZJ80 with a 2.5inch Old Man Emu lift. They are mounted on 8x16 inch black rockcrawler rims. I did not get any rubbing on the Rubicon under full flex with no spacers. They also did not seem to bog too bad on the trip up the mountains...

    long travel front shaft

I got mine from Jesse at Highangle Driveline. 12 inch slip joint. Was much less than $350 since I sent him the old cruiser shaft and he welded in the new slip joint. David Sword

whats the cause of 4wheel low poping out

Mine used to pop out when going downhill but the way the tcase is designed it could happen while going uphill as well. The dog clutch that slides on the main shaft and locks in either the high range gear or the low range gear can wear and slip on the spines on the main shaft and/or the splines...

    1994 LC Timing Chain?

You might want to try pumping some grease into the housing through the plugs on the side of the knuckle and see if the klicking goes away. Sometimes it is due to a dry birfield. If your knuckle seals are shot or if your axle seals are shot this won't help for long as all the grease will leak...

    1994 LC Timing Chain?

That statement is true. That does not mean that nothing can go wrong with it, or that if something does go wrong it should not be fixed. But it is designed to last the same as the rest of the engine. If you do a rebuild, you should replace the timing chain. It does not need to be replaced as...

    Valve cover half moons

The half moons fill in the machined-out portions of the timing chain cover that allow you to remove the bolts that hold the timing gears to the cams. David Sword

    tall narrow tire pics please

I have the SSRs as trail tires for my 80 with a 2.5 inch lift. Full articulation with no rubbing. Did not seem too bad power-wise cruising up the mountains with a full load. Run 295R75 ATs on the street for better mileage and slightly better handling since the sidewall is not as tall. David...

When to replace distributor cap and rotor

Mine say 1995. Guess it is time for replacement. Vehicle has almost 160K miles so I would estimate the wires have over 140K miles on them. I would guess that the distibutor cap and rotor are the same age. David Sword

When to replace distributor cap and rotor

My '94 started having a stumble off idle. It idled fine and ran smooth at higher RPMs. But at low RPMs and off idle it stumbled. My first inclination was to check the spark plugs since I had never replaced them after I bought the vehicle over a year ago and did not know the repair history...

SLAMD58, Have you checked the heater hoses going to the rear heater? They are down between the frame and the exhaust by the cats. They tend to leak sometimes. David Sword

    Knuckle rebuild question

It is very common to have detents in the races. Replace them with the bearing. They are sold as a set. Very easy to replace. There is a half-moon cutout in the race seat. You can see it from inside when looking through the ball. Just set a punch on the race and tap it out evenly...

GM AC Compressor work for On Board Air?

My understanding is that the York style compressors, which are piston compressors, have a sump which allows them to retain a certain amount of oil for lubrication purposes. The Sanden style compressors that are found on GM vehilces are rotary compressors and do not have their own oil and rely...
