thanks, trying to take advantage of what's in my backyard

Also forgot to mention that I ordered a couple sticks of 1 3/4" x .120 wall DOM to get a simple slider built for now and finish an idea for the front bumper.

thanks! i would definitely recommend the 4xinnovations mount. took out all the guess work and its super stout and well thought out. ill hopefully get some more finished pics later today.

some more slider pics. i had a longgg debate how to build them but for now this is plenty of protection for what i want to do. this is my DD setup for going camping/exploring, not a crawler...that is coming soon.

Any chance you could get us a straight at the slider level shot? I'd like to see how far down the cat protection hangs compared to the frame, just for a visual reference.

Thank you,

Dan

finally blacked out the back emblem. No more gold :bounce: and drilled my new shot ski....very necessary living here :D 250cm jump ski with 6 shots

yessir, i will say that it hangs down lower than i'd like if this was a real crawler i might have shortened it, but it isn't so i think its fine. I also dont have the original exhaust, I have the bosal replacement and the cats are much much lower profile.

I JUST CLEANED IT WITH A SCOTCHBRITE PAD, THEN TAPED IT AND SPRAYED IT!! :flipoff2:

Spray paint? Or Plastidip?

Spray paint? Or Plastidip?

its spray paint, some rustoleum stuff i think. I dont think plastidip would hold on there since you push on it.

So my question is this on my 80 the badges and rear lock are gold. I am not concerned about the badges but the rear lock has a door that slides up exposing the lock. If you paint it wouldn't the paint just chip off?

Does somebody actually use a key in the lock? In 20 years of ownership I think I've used the lock twice.

yes, yes it will just chip off.

I actually use that lock all the time....which is why the paint chipped off it.

these things are multiplying over here!

yesterday was the 1 year anniversary since rescuing the 80, took her camping this weekend in devils canyon. we ran a couple harder trails in the crawler but the 80 wouldnt have made it. didnt get any action shots but actually got to use the sliders a lot and so far im super happy with how minimal they are.

Ordered a few small parts. Couple new gaskets for a tiny exhaust leak that is driving me crazy, heater valve, and a Bluetooth OBD II scanner. The OBD scanner is awesome. I was always wondering what my actual coolant temp was (since you people have turned me into a crazy person). Hammered it up Hoosier pass tonight and it hung right at 198 most of the time, hit 201 briefly. But overall I'm happy, curious to see what it hits up a steep hill on a hot day....luckily we don't have many of those.
