I was searching around for wire sizes since I made my alternator WAY too small and I found this handy chart courtesy of Blue Sea and the US Coast Guard on wire sizes.

Doesn't matter, could be 48Vdc. Power is what we need to be concerned with since it is a measure of heating in the conductor. From ohms law P=I^2*R. The conductor size gives you the resistance per foot.
