HDJ80 is just the chassis code. That is a left hand drive diesel 80 series usually found in France.
If you search hard enough, you can find those oem parts here on mud through members. Death Valley Paul might have all those parts you're looking...
@sbman Good theory as well. It was in fact on a very steep hill, and could have have simply too much pressure applied to the splines (which may have been worn down to begin with).
Another free inspection to perform. Would be worth it to pull...

Your trans fluid might be low and parking that steep could have left a little open space for the pump to suck up into the filter.
How long have you owned the truck? Have you ever topped off the trans fluid or checked the level? I would get it...
Dusting this thread off to avoid making a new one:
1990 hdj81 with fully hydro trans.
My question is the rpm drop between gears when giving it light or medium throttle.
1-2 has a slight rpm drop, but 2-3 almost has no rpm change on the needle...
Decided the light silver truck needed some contrast, and the chrome was blending in a little too much. Went with a graphite color to match the OEM grill and I couldn't be more excited about the look! DUKE is looking MEAN
Is it just as tough to steer with the front end on jack stands and the engine running?
Did you get it aligned after all the parts were swapped out? Your toe could be out of spec causing the play characteristics. Lifting these trucks changes the...
Paul,
Interested in that front passenger belt you have if its still available. Mine is a 1990 from japan but hoping its the same buckle. I've attached a photo of mine.
I'm local and have been to your house before to buy parts a few times, so I...
If i remember correctly, the thread pitch is m8x1.25. You can track down a ''tall'' shift knob with that thread pitch (uncommon) or you can simply buy a steel adapter to go from m8x125 to (whatever pitch your tall shift knob is)
I have this...
Well s***, not sure how but I got it working again. For future reference I will post my “fix”
Crawled under there and pressed/jiggled all the grounds and connections. Doubt that did anything.
After that, I noticed the original burned fuse was...
@aviador Thanks man, that at least gives me somewhere to start.
By ''left'' do you mean the battery nearest to the airbox/steering box?
EDIT: i think I found a diagram for it...I'll take a look and see if anything looks loose/weird. Thanks...
I had the same problem. Kinda scary back in the bush, trying to get my buddy unstuck…..
It turned out to be a wire shorted to ground underneath the left hand battery tray. I had moved stuff around for my intercooler piping and repositioned the...
I should note that I've tested my oem winch last month once and it worked perfectly without any issues.
Well, today I was going to replace my factory line with a new one, and my controller wouldnt work. Its blowing the 7.5 ignition fuse...
**Unfortunately I need to postpone the sale of my LC - hopefully it will be back on the market in the not so distant future (~2 months)** Thank you to all of those who reached out with interest.

This is an ad/seller you should be looking for. Not saying you need to buy a bring a trailer rig (which i would recomment not to haha). But just try to find something that was owned by someone that enjoyed/loved the truck.

Thats a pass for 15k. I understand prices have gone up over the last few years, but for 15k you can get a clean one without all the issues listed above. for 15k you can find a well sorted truck with good paint.
It sounds like this truck was...
