Been back on the road about a year and half now and finally found some time to install a radio so I get to cruise again with tunes, still have to pinch myself now and then I get to ride in this thing again. Back then Green Day’s Dookie got tons...
Long time, work busy as hell lately. So got off the body, etc, down to nothing. Always nice to have a buddy with a mobile sand blaster. WELL WORTH THE MONEY just for the amount of time saved removing the paint. Some pictures of the action below...
Well, been a hot minute….life sure gets busy when you get married an inherit 3 step teens, lol. lol good though, wouldn’t trade it for the world…back to the build. Finally got my R2.8 and got the axles rebuilt, and body fully sandblasted, all...
It was just one of those nagging little things... both of the after-market window regulators, the pocket door, and the ash tray face plate were more of a shade of gold rather than OEM pewter. I finally decided to remedy that. They don't hold a...
Made an alignment jig, I was 1/16 toe’d out after the axle swap. Definitely explains why I had to hold the wheel on our fine NY roads. Turned the relay Rod about just past a quarter turn. Now I can hold the wheel with two fingers on most roads...
Splurged on a leather wheel cover! Went from this:

And it only took five and a half hours, with frequent screaming breaks! So worth it!
Today I had a chance to drive the 40 for a few hours mostly off road and enjoy the fruits of my labor. Body work , new wiring, windshield, exhaust system and a million little things to get it to this point, Parts will have to come back off for...
79’ on mine is on the passenger side. I bought a spare one that wasn’t Toyota and had to mount it on the drivers side. I’ve since put my original one back in. Mine was better aligned on the passenger side.
Pic is the spare acdelco 334-1599...
Rear on a '78 w/ drums and OEM Bleeders. (At least I seem to remember buying from the dealership) The bolts are hardware store metric. Your front looks fine.
Did some brake fluid change and bleed on a 79’ 40. One of the bleeders was badly plugged so I got a few of these Raybestos to put in place. I noticed on the front (disc) bleeders that were in there are way longer than these replacements. Made...
Hello everyone. I recently acquired an April 1970 built fj40. The previous owners have done the tasteful mods to keep it trail, and road worthy. Leaf springs, distributor, carburetor, exhaust header, power steering. Has a GM tilt column. 3spd...
So………. this ski thing you do is just something to kill time until your more important hobby is in season? 🤣
A reminder:
Got a chance to fish a ‘Trophy’ stream today with a good friend - I’ve not fished in a while so was a bit rusty (missed a...
I agree with the above comments regarding the SBC and Q-Jet combo. I had this combo for 20 years and it performed very well. I also understand the desire for EFI and I finally went that route. Here is a video of me driving up a minor incline with...
So my 84 is going in for paint soon and I’m doing stripes. The shop came up with a few options. Looking for views of the wise mud community. It’s going to be Buffalo Brown, which seems to be an official color for 1972 at least.
I started installing a Front Runner SlimLine II roof rack last night. Finished the job at 1am.
I bought a full perimeter rail kit for the rack so I have many options on rail configuration.
A few shots taken earlier..

I did hundreds of brake jobs back when I was turning wrenches for a living and they were still making FJ40s. We never had a problem bleeding brakes except when the master cylinder was bad and then we replaced it and never bench bled it and never...
