Just a quick note. Idle speed should be 650 at NOT. If your idle speed is 750, something is not quite right.
I have never heard of any 80 stalling due to the ECU relearning. Typically the idle is slightly higher than normal for a few drive cycles. Something is amiss.
I would verify that the...
The level in the reservoir should rise and fall with engine temp. As the coolant heats and expands, the radiator cap should allow coolant to flow into the overflow when the system pressure gets higher than the rating on the cap (13 psi). As the system cools and goes negative, the cap allows...
@Marco Lau brought up a good point about transmission temps. If your torque converter is not locking up properly, your tranny temps will certainly be a factor.
Whatever floats your boat. I've never had an issue keeping those 155 bone crushing horses cool with the OEM system, assuming all the parts were working as they should. Drove from Jersey to Moab and back twice pulling my M416 up and over the Rockies and she was a daily driver for the better part...
A failing fan clutch can cause overheating both in traffic and at highway speeds.
The front of the 80 is as aerodynamic as a brick. The fan has to create negative pressure behind the radiator in order to draw air through as opposed to around. Can't get away from that pesky physics.
I had this...
I have a problem with adjustable links that keep axles under the truck.
If you're prototyping a suspension system, then that's a good idea. If you're not, then either weld it in place after adjusting, or have custom bars made.
Just my opinion, but I've seen adjustable links come apart on the...
You can't tell the condition of fusible links with your eyeballs. They have a flameproof silicone jacket.
They should be replaced with every battery change IMO. They are subject to fatigue from vibration over time, and are inexpensive. They come as a set of 3.
