found massive amounts of copper in the oil after doing an in frame bearing job . found one cam bearing that failed for no reason ( apiece of crap came from some were )but not enough to tell me were all the copper is coming from , dam you chevy engines

on a good note i found a brand new vortec 5.7 for free that just needs a new set of pistons because some students hammered them out . so if i can't fix my current 350 i will not be in such bad shape .

I'm going to buy another body and putit behind my parents house, piss off their neighbors, my Dad too probably then try and clean it up paint it and put it back on in a weekend. yeah right.

I did find another body though, rust in the sill and rear lower 1/4's bottom looks good. I gave the dude 100 beans to hold it for a few weeks while I find out where I'm going to put it. I'll be doing some shackle mods to my buddy's 40, valve adjustment too. My truck might see some action this week if I'm lucky.

Continued with the garage cleanup and refit in order to get it ready for the big project. Meanwhile the cruiser is still languishing in the driveway but not for much longer...
Other than that I pulled off one of the door limiters and cleaned it up, rebuild kit arrived yesterday.

Had a buddy with a transmission shop replace the clutch. Not so familiar with cruisers, so it didn't go well. Had to yank the interior, including the heater core, to get the tunnel cover off. The lemonade? since I have it apart, I'll finish emptying it and pressure wash the inside to get all that old mud out, then rework all my piecework wiring for accessories.

last two weeks...whew...it is done....

bought a fj62 (400 bucks), and stripped it down for the steering column, 3fe engine, electrical wiring, and anything else that looks good enough to put on the old man (my fj40, 69). Sold a few parts to a guy in Bremerton, and the body/frame to a guy in Vancouver (made back 130 bucks). Yes, that was cheap pricing, but the parking area is clear again.

That didnt last long, bought some fj40 body parts for $50. driving way not clear again.

Finished the power steering mod from Power Steering Pro's. With the fj62 steering column.

started looking for someone who will come and get the fj40, 75-76 body parts the I do not need.

Replaced the rear end with a full floater model, added 4.11 ring and pinions, a new rear A-arm instead of the anti-wrap bar, new 10 inch steel wheels, new 35-14.5-15 boggers, new front bumper with cibie fog lights, new pro comp shock absorbers (9000 up front, 3000 in the rear), new polyurethane bushings, replaced front drums with disc brakes, and added selectable hubs.

You know, just routine changes!!!!

Pulled out the tranny/t-case & doubler for the (hopefully) last time so that I can install the body lift and prep & paint the frame.

Also insulated the shed, only related in that it's what prevented me from getting the lift installed ;-). Next weekend - get the lift in and do the finish welding/grinding on the frame so that I can get the rust bullet laid down.

Also - finished my 'conversation' (read: battle) with the CA BAR. I lost, so no 6BT powered FJ80 in my future.........

Added some oil the other WEEK and today at the local dunes I notice...no filler cap! I used rags for the day. And, the steering stabilizers bracket on the axle sheared. It was a good day wheeling though.

made 1/20th scale model of my fj40

well, this may not be the cup of tea that most of you drink from, but at church we have this AWANA Club, and it was pine-wood durby night, so i spent the weekend making a scale model of my fj40-69. it was much harder than i suspected at first. but, i got the thing done, and it ran 5th place for speed, and the design catagory was for kids only. so, i lost that one. But, i really like this. it will go well with all the fj40 books, articles, ads, and pictures i have collected over the years.

Hi All:

I took my rig 'wheeling last weekend for the first time since doing the front suspension modification.

Installed longer front springs in a "flipped" position along with Ford shock towers. Also got some new tires!

Regards,

Alan

Wire wheeled, scraped and cleaned the entire underside and recoated with some good undercoating, 3 stage Maguires (paint cleaner, polish, and wax) on the whole thing, including the inside and now she's super clean and turning heads. :-)
