***All this truck needs to be a daily driver is a battery. I am selling this truck below what most other Cruisers sell in wrecked condition. This one is not wrecked, and it runs very well, along with a lift, tires and recently serviced axles. Sale price ends July 31, 2012.***

$3,500 - MUST go by the end of 7/31/2012, or the price gets raised to $5,000 which will include a battery and a non-leaky power steering system.

For sale is my beloved Cruiser, a 1993 that I bought in completely stock condition.

Partial trades welcome for the following items:

  • Portable digital piano. Desirable features: Piano-style keys, weighted; mainly used as a grand piano, so must be high quality
  • Guitars: Fender Stratocasters, Telecasters, Les Pauls
  • Tube Amplifiers: Fender, Marshall

1993 Toyota Land Cruiser:

217K miles, White with gray lower trim

Pros:
- 2.5" Lift, 2" front coil spacers - best type, made of welded steel, bolted to housing. This is similar in construction to Metal Tech's welded spacers that sell for about $120 a pair.
- Newer 315 (35") tires, with full-size spare (about 10,000 miles left on it - worn)
- Custom front/rear bumpers
- Custom tube sliders
- All seats included
- Air conditioning WORKS
- Never overheated, no matter the ambient temperature
- Front axle fully serviced with new seals and bearings and one newer Birfield joint - with spare included
- Front winch. Harbor Freight 8,000# "Chicago" brand. Power cable burned up when at SnT last year, may still work - but I am not certain. Have it checked using a battery separate from the Land Cruiser's installed battery.
- Aussie locker (install thread referenced above)
- Will travel unlimited miles - safely there to wheel - and safely back for daily driving. I always loved 80-series Land Cruisers because of this. I have a family of five children, so seating comfort and vehicle reliability were always paramount.
- Previous owner claims that the head gasket was serviced, but I have no evidence to support this, except that it never overheats, regardless of conditions or length of time at idle.
- 100-series brake pads with about 15K miles on them
- I have always used synthetic engine oil.

Cons:
- Power steering hose leak - replaced one hose (the most expensive one that is a U-shape), another requires replacement. Fluid level drops about once a month. I bought a rebuilt pump (one that Beno [Onur] from American Toyota rebuilt), but that was not the problem; it was a leaky hose to begin with, now there is another leaky hose. I will include the pump so that you will not need to ever buy one.
- Rear window (driver side) needs new track - mechanism keeps falling out of the slider, it is necessary to remove the panel each time it falls out...which is usually when fully opening the window.
- The fuel door and fuel door locking mechanism will need to be replaced. I had to pry it open one day when it would not release the fuel door, which broke that plastic release tab.
- I repaired a crack in the intake plenum, repair is holding, but the plenum should be replaced. Air is not leaking in or out as it was before, so I consider it a temporary repair that has been holding for the last year, at least.

This has served me very well as my daily driver, except that gas became too expensive for us. I have owned three Land Cruisers over the course of six years, and this one is the best of them all - even better than the 1966 40-series my father and I built.

If I have to repair anything listed above beyond putting a new battery in it, then I will complete the repairs and sell it for $6,000 firm -- closer to what these are worth with the build it has. Without repairs, I am selling it for $3,500, and buyer is responsible for all, including smog (which it passed last year; registration is not due until September, 2012).

I am a true fan of Land Cruisers and of the community; many people on IH8MUD.com know me personally, and I do have a good feedback score in the Classifieds section, having bought and sold a few Land Cruisers and associated parts herein. Having said that, I will not abandon or avoid the buyer, and will continue to assist with my knowledge of any of the quirks associated with Land Cruisers in general or this one specifically. I know these machines well enough, but I also have digital copies of the FSM (Factory Service Manual) available to the buyer.

I can verify the above statements with references, if needed; alternatively, one only needs to perform a search on IH8MUD.com for my user name in the Classifieds, 80-Series Technical and Chat sections.

I recently had two 'Mud members stop by and test-drive and visually inspect this Cruiser; he can either validate or contradict the claims made above, if he is so inclined.

Thank you for looking.

I can be reached by Private Message (PM) or through the email function within the IH8MUD site.

MEMCruiser: You sent me an email, but I cannot reply to it because of your User CP settings do not allow for other forum members to send you emails. The answer to your question: I will upload more interior images tonight. I took out the stereo, and I will be putting that back in tonight; then I will take some interior shots.

Basic description of interior condition:

- Dash/electronics: Just about perfect condition, no major scratches of gouges.
- Seats: Both front seats, leather, are cracked on the seat cushion, and the seat-backs are scuffed. I have covers which cover only the seat-backs. - Second- and third-row seats: Second row are in "okay" condition, whereas the third-row are in great condition. All seats function as they should; electronically and mechanically.
- Carpet: Front area is in great condition. Back carpet is dirty - needs to be cleaned of old grease and dirt. Back carpet near tailgate has deteriorated fibers due to battery that leaked, about a three inch strip. A cargo mat would improve the appearance considerably.

Told my son (Cornholio) about this. He said "I know that rig, I yanked him at Pismo. Nice ride."

HaHa. Anyway, he's got a friend looking for some wheels and will be talking to her today.

Interior / engine shots.

I wanted to show the extent of the wear factor on the driver seat, which is the worst of them all.

The intake plenum, which is in need of replacement.

Yanked me? I don't remember needing to be yanked, except maybe when two of us were pulling this guy who was about to roll over...but I do faintly remember meeting a "cornholio". Tell him I said "hello" and thanks for the assist; both the "yank" and the sale.

As stated before, I wish we had a chance to wheel together, but maybe one day when I get another Cruiser.

Didn't yank the 80, helped the 80 pull the motor home in with Rob.

I'm talking to some friends trying to get into wheeling up here in the high desert.

I remember now. Thanks for the assist.

As far as talking friends into wheeling - this Land Cruiser would be perfect for someone starting out, since it has all the creature comforts and all the work to get it ready for wheeling is already done. You saw it - nothing too modified, making it perfect for street use as well.

Say hello to your pops for me.

Oh, and whoever finds a buyer for > / = $5,200, I will pay a $200 commission.

Still for sale, though I have two people currenty interested who found it by driving by my house. If anything is of concern, or if there is anything I can do to motivate a prospective buyer, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I have someone coming by tonight, from Yucaipa, to look at it who has already made an offer. We shall see.

Good luck.

I haven't had any bites on my end.

Thanks, Bogus; the guy from Yucaipa brought a friend who happens to be on this board. The guy who is interested will be returning tonight with his wife to get her approval on the purchase, since he really likes it.

Bump for a fantastic cruiser and seller. Sean put a lot if time into this one. I'd buy it back if I were back in California. Sean also neglected to mention this was easy e's old truck and then owned by his publicist.
