In reguards to the older LX470's 98-2000 or whatever years that aren't flashable. Can you put in a newer ECU?

Even with flashing the ECU, how would ou get torque reduction? Unless you can have some external input into the ECU that triggers torque reduction, I don't see how any of that will work.

The emulators are simulating resistance speed and overdrive clutch. Maybe giveing some slipping data to the OD clutch could cause a torque reduction? I dunno, just a thought.

Other than that, might just have to live without it.

Could also run something like a haltech, then you cget CAN data. Then its EASY, other than passing emissions.

I am currently running a FRS with a 8HP, and I absoultly LOVE IT!!!!!!

As far as I'm aware it's a possibility but the easier solution is most likely a standalone ECU. The 03+ got TBW so that is something you would need to swap over onto a 98-02 in addition to the ECU but I've also head mixed things about only the VVTi 06-07 are flashable.
I myself am not planning to try to have torque reduction at this time since I am unsure of what I would need to do to get it. I'm trying to get it into the car and driving first. That is a temping use case for the emulator, my only issue is it's marketed for the VVTi UZ engines so I'm unsure of what may work. I think it's somewhat feasable but first I will try to see what happens if I don't have the stock 4 speed transmission present.

I would love to get a MaxxECU or similar but they only support gen 1 8hps, I would still need another controller for the transmission.

I am currently in the middle of a 2UZ to 80 series swap with the donor being a 02 100 series. This thread is is very pertinent to my interests, and definitely something that is on my radar for a future project once I get the swap going strong.

Stock ECU? If not choose a Maxxecu and your future self will thank you.

For now a stock but tweeked ECU is going to be the path forward, as that’s what I have and this being a possibility for the 2uz swap (I had originally been thinking 5.3ls with 8hp) it’s going to be a little ways off. I am
Sorta committed to what I have for now thanks for the input though maxxecu was on my radar from previous research.

Messaging here as to not muddy up your other thread. I found a low mileage 8HP75 local to me 64k miles. Looks solid?

Higher price than I would pay imo. And I feel like I paid a lot ($1100) for the trans I ended up with that has lower miles. I would also keep in mind if you get a 75 which is a GEN two transmission you are limited to Turbolamik as they are the only ones with support for the gen 2/3 transmissions at this time. Keep in mind you will still need to spend about $2600 on adapters.

Thanks that’s a great point. Planning to also supercharge so Maxxecu will be a better option with a gen 1 8HP70 transmission instead of having the ECU + TCU.

A 100 series with a 5 speed manual pop up on FB the guy who did the swap at Landcruiser heaven had the ECU sent out and the auto transmission stuff flashed out of it.

Got me in the screenshot lol. That tracks with what I had found before with the 5 speed ECUs being able to flash out the stock trans.

Him saying Florida makes me think it was the Lexus v8 guys I talked with previously
