The OP doesn't seem to any information prior to 1964. I have what left or 1~FJ40~10202.

Your second one has one too many number on the serial number at the back. Those never have seven digits.
? Yes they do.

It’s the full 17 digit vin for late model 40s
Although the first 3 seems out of place
364871 gets better results for some reason. Oh the frame vin is fj40-364871

Curious what other information you have besides the chart that originally on Specter Off Road site?
Up thru 1963 the VIN started with the last number of the year it was built. The same was true of the FJ25. No FJ40 has ever been verify with a VIN lower than 1~FJ40~10001. I have two 61s. Neither is over 11000. Doubt there were a thousand built in 1961 and certainly not eleven thousand.

Would be nice to share the formula your using to come up with the day. Have a friend who works at a Toyota dealer who provided the most information on my 7/89 FJ62. I had a 99 4Runner built in 1998. He was able to provide much more information for that one. Would be interested in the built day for my 9/67 68 model. 68 is the first model year for a special North America model. Are you able to know the first day of 9/67 a US was built? Besides LHD and RHD now dealer with models for certain markets. Would think Toyota would do a run of each market model and RHD or LHD at one time. That would take out any formula based solely on VIN. Basically would need to know what days each model was built. Start and end day for each model. How many were built of that model each day to come up with a day. What other information do you have?
I have just started this process, and I am learning as I go. I am only familiar with FJ40’s 1964-1984. I don’t know anything about VIN#s prior to that or about other models (FJ43, FJ55, etc.)... but I am learning.

Yes, there obviously are some assumptions and some factors that are unknow which is why I say, “most likely birthday”.

The data I am using is a combination of several websites, documents, and the VIN# info published on several sights for FJ40’s 1964-1984. I also include research of Japanese historical calendar (workdays, national holidays, historical events like the eruption of Mount Usu in August of 1977 that disrupted supply chain and nation labor habits that month, etc.). Lastly, I include some research and data that I have accumulated about Toyota's work habits and assembly line policies and procedures. I do not know exactly what days they worked on what models. There are other factors to consider as well like how many assembly lines they had and did they work on diffrent models on the same lines. I do have some of that info in my research and making assumptions accordingly.

There are aso other factors like some of the ones you listed where I am making some assumptions as wel because it would be virtually impossible to know unless we spoke to someone who worked on the assemble line during that time. There are also factors like the “Kit FjJ40s” that Toyota shipped to other places to be assembled that I need to do more research on… but again, that is why I say, “mostly likely”. I do believe the date I arrive at (if my calculations are correct), should be pretty close.

I have also tried using a few VIN history and title search websites like Bumper.com, but they usually do not work with the older VIN#s prior to the longer 17 digit VIN#s that were required by the US in1981.

My goal for this is for it to be fun for me and for those who want to celebrate their LC's b-day. I will to learn as I go, I also I hope to extend my research and knowledge to make this process even more accurate and to also eventually include other models like FJ42, 45, and 55s and years prior to 1964.

I will continue to sharpen this process as I go. I will share what I learn and if I discover something that would change my findings significantly I will be sure to update the process and will let everyone know.

As to your question about the first day that the first US model was produced in 9/67, I will do some research and see what I can come up with.

Your 40 would be really hard to pinpoint a day of birth because by 1983 Toyota was only producing around 350 FJ40s a month. In previous years they were producing more than a thousand a month meaning around 100 a day. They would have most likely had the 40 in production every day of the month whereas by 1983 Toyota probably only had the 40 in production for one week that month, so determining which week that would have been is virtually impossible. That being said, I will see what I can find out.

Congrats on having a late model "rare" FJ40!!

OK, I’m game, FJ40-54800.
The eariler ones are a little harder to pinpoint exact days but there is a pretty good chance that your 40 came off the line the last day of the month.

Wednesday January 31st 1968

Woo Hoo!, a Wednesday truck…..we all know about Monday morning and Friday afternoon trucks…..hangover recovery, or looking forward to the weekend assembly errors are notorious….🤣🤣🤣

It would be really cool if your research could determine which port the vehicle was shipped to.
There actually is ways to do that. I have researched and found that info on a couple vehicles. You'd be surprised how much information is actually out there and available if you have the time to research it. The issue is time. It takes a lot of time to research the entire history of a vehicle.

I actually thought about creating something like a what Ford has in their "Marti Report" but for FJ40s. That would be really cool to have a completely documented FJ40 with the complete vehicle owners history.

Nov 73 build
I apoligize, I looked at your number wrong... you are correct.

Your 40's most likely birthday is Thursday November 2nd, 1973
