NextUniverse, I would like to give a big thank you to you and your efforts, much appreciated! I purchased an 80 to replace the one I sold years ago and I ran across this thread within a few hours of being here on Mud. What a score! This will be a valuable tool along with my all in one Ubuntu in the garage. You are the man, thanks again for your time and contribution.

Does anyone know what ultimately became of this endeavor? Cruisertools.com appears to be non-functional and it’s been several years since the last post. I’m asking because I’m a digital product designer with a background in software engineering. I’d like to pick up the torch if it has officially been put down.

Cheers!

Just looking at his user profile, the OP hasn't been on mud since last April.

Yeah, I just figured I would at least ask to be sure. I realize there are a few major obstacles when it comes to recreating/sharing material that is largely copyrighted…which I would bet played into the original site no longer existing.

As a start, I’m looking to create a simple iOS app with useful information (torque specs, fluids, etc) that would be helpful to have on hand when wrenching. I realize the indexed pdf FSM can fill this role, but my intent is to eventually grow the app into other areas of cruiser ownership, where it makes sense. At this time it’s purely a passion project that will be completed in my free time. I’ll probably be posting up some surveys soon and asking for insight into what folks would find helpful.

As it moves forward I’ll create a new thread to keep track of progress and feedback.

I'm happy to see someone is looking to take this on. When I saw the original post I got excited and then I saw the dates and quickly realized that this was a project that was never completed. I was recently trying to find the torque specs for changing the v-belts in the FSM and found it too cumbersome. It has no index. I ended up finding them in a YouTube video. It would be nice to have a place with all the specs that is easily searchable. Good luck with the project and hopefully the OP gets a hold of you so that, maybe, his work can expedite what you're doing and it won't go to waste.

I will be looking for updates on your project. Thank you for endeavoring to do this.

I've created a new thread where I'll be tracking the design/development of a mobile app to provide helpful information (torque spec, fluids, etc.) for working on your LC. You can find it here.
