Hopefully its ok to post this in our local club forum...?

Before I buy one on the web, I'm wondering if anyone local has a used medium duty 12V air compressor they want to part with? I know a few of you have upgraded to the Puma units, so may have a smaller compressor to get rid of.

I'm running narrow tires, so would be happy with a used Superflow MV50, Smittybilt 2780 or similar (12V 30A, 2.5cfm). I'll pay up to $80 depending on condition.

I'd love a Puma, but it's not in the budget at the moment...

I'd prefer to buy in greater Victoria.

Thanks, Nick.

Hey dude, you can get a Puma for $200 eh? Might want to save up, it's more than double the speed of one of those MV50s. Recall how I filled all my tires, then yours, and finished up before Vern and Dana got theirs done? ;)

If that doesn't convince you... I believe Westshore Spring & 4x4 (located in Colwood) can get one of the MV50's or a very similar compressor for a decent price.

Hey Andrew, you're totally right, but my wife is putting brakes on my cruiser spending right now. The cruiser's seen about $7k in new parts in less than a year; so I can't blame her. For now I just want something that will allow me to do a bit of wheeling now and then. I don't mind if I have to wait a bit to air up. Keep in mind my skinny tires have less volume than your guy's anyhow, so air up may not be too bad even with lower cfm's.

Thanks for the heads up on Westshore 4x4. I'll give them a call.

We all go through this compressor evolution starting with cheap and inadequate to finally settling on something good and permanent that has a resale value.

I got a Titan, on sale http://www.titanwinches.com/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=3 Much better than the Masterflow dually Q89 or whatever it was called that I used to have. Seems to be pretty much the same speed as a Puma, just without the tank. I used an old SCBA tank and a standard pressure switch and some plumbing, and mounted the whole setup permanently into my 80. Compressor is in the rear quarter panel and tank is along the frame rail.

That looks perfect. How much do you want for it?

No no, I'm not selling it. But you can buy your own from Titan :)

Ahhh, gotcha; sorry. I looked at the specs of that unit again and am quite impressed. That is probably the unit I'll go for. The sale price is good.
