looking for a good way to drop my ratio on the rocks. I'm not rich but tend to be spendy on this money pit. It should be in excellent working order, NO JUNK PLEASE. I'm on the East Coast near Baltimore/ Washington. Will travel, shipping possible. I'm headed to the fall crawl in Oct at Raush Creek.
He had a complete gear set out of an H41. From what I understand they go right into an H42 case. It is more cost effective to get all guts and rebuild it in your case than it is to ship a 100lbs tranny across country.
Poser, Mace or someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I have for sale an imported-from-Australia rebuilt (and not installed since) H41 4 speed transmission (lower 1st gear than the typical US model H42) with a split transfer case and a Fairey Overdrive. It has the parking brake attached to the back of the TC so it'll be easier to use in an FJ40 (split TCs do not usually have the parking brake on US models). It comes complete with shifters.

If you're interested in a complete trans, you will need to specify 16 or 19 spline. If all you want are the guts, then anything 74 and newer will work.
Good question on the spline count, I currently run a 78 trans and transfer. Spline count could only be verified by pulling it I guess. I saw cruiser parts had them for 500 bucks shipped. Does that seem reasonable?
If it's a '78 it should have the single piece transfer caser which means that you have a 16 spline output on the tranny. If you have a split case like what is found in all '60 series then you have a 19 spline tranny output shaft.
Just thinking there might be some confusion. The spline count matters two places. The tranny output shaft (16 vs 19 spline, and the t-case input gear, 16 vs 19 spline on the t-cases. The gear spline counts do not matter in the tranny. It's the output shaft that's different.
Will sell my H41 when I find a NV4500 for a decent price.
Wow-Davisdrafting---so the split case fit between the frame rails of the 80? I thought Lowtide tried this and could't make it work. That would make for a cool truck. Curious why you wouldn't run an H55?
