Might be easier to paint the top inside of the frame by roling it over though

Thanks Chris,
I'll try and think of something, but so far looks like I can get pretty much anything for it here. March eh, so you will be missing River Shiver.
Cheers,

Update: nothing.
Did a bunch of stuff over the weekend, but nothing worth taking a picture of, pretty much just some cleaning and ripping more things off the frame(snapping bolts and stuff). Also started up Blue, put in winter oil, and wheeled it around a bit in the back alley in the snow, all it needs is some new glow plugs and its ready for winter wheeling (hopefully in the new year)
Cheers,

Didn't want everyone thinking I didn't do anything on the weekend, so just posting to say I did a little more cleaning and snapped bolt removal out of the frame. Also did some work on Blue (put in new glow plugs, starts good now), bought car hauler, christmas partied it up till 5am, and slept till noon.

Are you coming to our candle making party this week? I promise I won't take pictures.

What?!?

Sign me up for the transfercase rebuilding party.:D

Heck yeah, I stopped carrying parts and tools on the trail now, just a pack of candles and I'm good to go. Just need candles to transfercases 101 and I think I got everything covered.:D

Did a little on the truck, thanks to Charla, while I worked on some bling for the 42.
Check out the hydraulic pump Charla took out from behind the pass. seat, anybody want to buy it, would be good for a hydraulic winch no? Also took a picture of the bolts that snapped a million times for the front bumper, finally got them out and retapped. (Just trying to show that a lot of times I'm not really lazy, things just take a while to take apart)

No big things to report here, as I am spending most of my time in the shop getting things ready for my 42, but I did get a few cool things for it. I got new fenders off of Steve at EBI over Christmas, and I finally got some stearing parts from 4X4Labs. Luke really helped me out and got some good stuff to me, which I might have to tweek a little, but looks like it should work. I'll post up some pics as soon as I have some time.

Here are the pictures as promised. The 4x4labs arms and rods as well as the fenders. The spray spots on the fenders are a little primer I sprayed on a few scratches that I didn't want to start rusting. I might be a little anal on this, as I want to make this truck never rust again, or at least try anyway.;)

Last night I pulled one of the OTT arms off to see how the 4x4labs arms will fit. Looks pretty good, it will give me some room to mount the panhard bar. I did a little grinding on the arm to try to stop it from hitting the coil on full turn. I think it is pretty good on what I have done so far (bottom pic) but I think I will take off a few more millimeters just to make sure, might come to total of 5mm off. (notice how beefy the OTT arm is, but just not long ehough for me but might come in handy for my rusty project)

Looks good. Almost motivates me to get to work in the shop.

Were the steering arms on the stock axle similar length to the 4x4labs arms or the short OTT arms? If the new arms are longer will the steering box have enough range to give full lock/turn?

As far as I can remember (they are buried under the snow at the moment) they were pretty long (similar to stock 80 series arms) since they had to go back and the tie rod was back and under the high pinion 3rd. Not positive though as I never saw it stock close up, but pretty sure the panhard bar will be almost in the same location as stock, since I am reusing the frame mount.

Yeah I think I get it now. The right OTT arm front hole is a similar length to the 4x4 labs arms. So no change as far as the steering box is concerned. I guess you'll be using a tie rod that attaches to the drag link? Are you using 60 series parts or something bigger?

Holy, your like a real life Shurlock Holmes (I'll call you Homey for short from now on) Yup using a drag ling that attaches to tie rod. will be using 1ton GM ends, except Luke made up the drag link with one end an 80 series tie rod end to attach to my pitman arm, he also included a collar to put on the tie rod end just incase I use a 60 series arm (or older 70 series arm). And I checked a few old photos of the stock suspension, and yes the arms were pretty long for the reasons I described above, only that they came down, which made it easier to clear the coils. price you pay for all the custom work I guess, gotta do a lot of screwing around now.

Last night I finished up installing the knuckle arms, tie rod, and drag link. Looks like I will have just enough room to install the panhard bar inbetween the axle and the tie rod, but it will be tight. The 4x4 labs arms allow the knuckles to rotate through the entire movement, now my question is what do I set the steering stops to? does it depend totally on the tire rubbing the frame, or is there a saftey point that I shouldn't turn past?

Well, did quite a bit on the weekend, major things accomplished were pulled the transmission (Good think Nathan stopped by to help with this as I was just going to try and pull it out by hand, but he brought a jack to make the job a lot easier and a lot less hillbilly) and pulled and replaced the drop pitman arm, looks like the steering will work out pretty good. Now looks like I might pull the engine, but I am still not too keen on pulling the whole tub off.
Cheers,
