Well the little bro has his new and improved FJ40.

We worked our ass's off for about a week straight.

Powersteering, Disc Brakes, Rollcage, Bumpers and winch mount, 4.11 gears, Lockrights, Hysteer with 1 ton stuff, traction bar in the rear...and probably a whole slew of things I am forgetting.

Well anyway on with the pictures.

More

Scout Box. Was a real bitch to find 5/8 tubing to use as a sleev for the frames but I found some at a SnoMachine shop. Got it for free! And it is even Chromoly...

Pitman arm is off a D700 as well. Taper was correct as that big bastard uses 1 ton stuff on it's idler arm....Works PERFECT.

Chevy 1 ton TRE were used. All of them are Right hand thread to cut down on spares.

Rear Hitch. it is tied to the rear cross member and also welded to both kickers. The LC frame is rivited together So I reinforced everything with a few good beads.

Traction Bar to keep everything under control.

Looks awesome. Did you do the paint in a paint booth?

VERY nice....looks great!

Q? on the front steering/suspension tho...I contact my pitman HARD with a "thin" 5/8" heim and there was no way a "real" tie rod end would work...you may have issues...

Woody- Maybe, I will let you know when we take it out for the first time. it clears the frame just fine and that Pitman is a lot shorter than it looks. I was actually more concerned with it hitthing the Draglink.

A week? What took so long? Just jokin. Looks awesome. :D

Is your power steering pump bracket custom or something you bought?

Jody.

The FJ has no rust on it. The paint and bodywork were all done at Lewis and Clark Community COllege by a friend of the Bro's going to Autobody school. It looks good but ofcoarse has it share of mistakes. Just fine for a FJ that will see lots of trail use.

Yah Little Bro has a TJ for a daily driver. I am more of a Jeep guy myself but this is my second FJ and I REALLY like them.

It is a lot of work. TONS of work. I only had 3 complaints to the housing authority about me running a "Chop Shop" during the build.....As luck would have it the Big Dog here owned a FJ while in College and allowed progress to continue.

Those "Tyres" are Q78 TSL's. That equates to 35.5 x 11.0. Mounted on a 7 inch wheel with 3.5 inches of backspacing.

They tuck nicely into the fender and look like they were made for the FJ.

..no Kidding..The axles and trac bar were already booty fabbed all up..lol..Nice job..Love that power steering pump bracket too..beats the hell out of mine..Want to build one for me?..seriously...Nothing ( TR or DL ) really hit the frame before!..The spring would hit the DL on compression..just put a bumpstop on it like this!

..On the trac bar..I had it flipped around and a 4" shackle off the crossmember..Kept it at the same angle as the driveshaft!..PROTECTION!
