Thanks @antFJ! So the 75 I bought came with these seats already upholstered this color. To save some money, I decided that they would work in my 74 since there are no vinyl covered door panels like in the 75 (which has dark grey door panels). I will use the dark grey ones in the 75 - which means I've done the first thing in the restoration of that one... :)

I will have to check out that stuff for the belts - I've read too where people use regular spray paint on the belt that has been soaked with lawyer thinner.

I've been looking for a way to thin out lawyers for years!! Where do you get it??

I think I'm going to try this stuff for the seat belts:

Jacquard Products - Dye-Na-Flow

Since I'm just trying to darken the black seems like it might work pretty good. They thought it would be a good application. Cheap too!

Success! Idle reads lower on this one than the old installed one. 800 vs 1000-1100. I didn't connect the lighting however as tapping into a light wire isn't that easy but maybe some day. Had I known I would've left a little pigtail off my mini-gauges since those are tapped into the dash lights. Really difficult to access now...

A buddy who restored his seat belts pointed me to this source:
Seat Belt 7 Panel Webbing / Per Yard: Replacement Seat Belts

Looks like though they don't do restoration... Plus I don't know about seeing them myself. I could probably do it but have no idea what is the correct thread. And getting to the retracting unit inside the seatbelt housing might be tough. Hence me just wanting to keep it stock but darkening up the black belt.

What I recall from my friend was that he took it apart and gave it to a shoe repair shop. The job was done for very little money.

I wonder if they know the requirements of auto seat belts... Hope that I never need to use them but it would be nice to know they were done correctly.

Scored this beautiful steering wheel pad - never seen one with color so vivid! Of course there was a catch... The backside mounting plate was bent and screws sheared off. Wish that was in the photo GRRRR! But I was able to get the plate out and fixed it with some cold forging as they call it (hammered close to the shape it should be) and extracted the screws and chased the threads. Unfortunately in the process of putting it back together the foam was damaged. Fortunately it is on the bottom of the pad so it is less visible and I will work on gluing the foam back on.

Also, starting my DIY silicone fuel line grommet project. Won't post anything on that yet just in case it is a disaster... Which it could very well be. Plan seems sound, the execution, well we'll see.

Scored some new OEM sun visors via craigslist! Had no idea this was the stock color. Not even close to the tan seat covers but family is similar so it doesn't look out of whack. Mine were silver and I just assumed that was the color of them. Not until closer inspection did I notice a tiny tan spot near the arm. Of course nothing can be easy - while installing them I dropped two screws. One fell behind the dash pad and another fell behind the seat frame support. Once I got the one out of the frame pad it fell into the little slot between the chassis and the fuel tank cover. WTF?!!! Was able to get all the screws but something that should've taken 5 minutes tops ended up being a 30 minute job.

Oh and scored a Japanese multi-screwdriver. Amazing how nicely it fits the screws!

Here's a pic of the '73 to '78 style. The shape is distinctly different. In all the stock I've seen, these are tan and the later ones are white...then again I don't have the best eyes for colors. Do you happen to have the label with the part #?
