Ok guys, this one has had me puzzled for a week, this rusty little junction box is mounted to the frame, just forward of the starter on the passenger side of the vehicle. It looks OEM to me but I’m not sure, I’ve owned the vehicle for 13yrs and I’ve never changed, swapped or even seen it. 2 of the wires run directly to the starter, the red & one of the black ones.

I recently had severe voltage drop when using my windshield wipers (9v) & slight drop when using blinkers and reverse (lights). So I started tracking down the culprit, cleaned battery terminals, replaced fuses, new ignition coil, fresh grounding from battery to frame & block, new alternator. They all gave me slight improvements but nothing major until I cleaned and rewired this junction box. The truck is currently idling at 13v but should be stronger with all the improvements (drops to 11 when wipers are on high). All my grounds are clean and tight, I’m 99% sure this is coming from the positive end of the feed.

Does anyone know what this junction box is? Is it aftermarket? OEM? Most importantly, where can I find a replacement or a work around?

IIRC the brown plastic connector is stock and should go to the starter, unsure of the others
not sure if it is a relay??
is the red wire coming from the battery connection on the starter?
the single black wire going to the starter solenoid?
the 2 wire brown connector would be a trigger for the relay

IIRC, brown plastic clip, feeds back into the wiring harness, red wire and single black wire both run to the starter.

the brown connector would originally go where the single brown wire is on the starter
sure looks like a relay a PO installed for some reason,
I would delete it and go back to stock setup
Might be a silly question but Any chance you have a pic of original set up?

I’m guessing someone did a fender starter solenoid install. Just it’s in a poor place and needs to be replaced
