Has anyone ever documented a wiring harness by connector? I have the FSM and the wiring diagram for my 40 but when I am inside the dash and chasing a problem I would appreciate checking off the connectors

Most folks just use the color codes. I start problem unit and work back. I think Engineer 8000 has made a map by connector for his 73. As old as our wiring it could speed up fault diag during the next 50 years.
