At least one other factor applies, that being the wiper motor wiring harness location and its impact on the design of the location of the wiper motor electrical connections. RHD the wiper harness comes from the right, LHD from the left. i have no hands-on knowledge of what any of the other under-dash electrical differences might be between RHD and LHD.

@middlecalf ,

If you look at some of the early windshield frames you can see tiny holes along both upright sides and all along the top edge for the tiny sheetmetal screws that held clamps for the wiper harnesses. Not so sure about the harness exit holes low down the sides of the windshield frame. Logic would indicate Toyota would have the RHD harness on the RH side and the reverse for the LHD frame. Also a very early truck might inadvertently be assembled with an earlier version. Toyota was known for example sending over to the USA a few 1983 FJ40s with the non-US front vent windows, so who knows what was in the correct parts bin. I guess the majority rules--most LHD trucks had the wiring loom coming up the LH side, but it is puzzling when current owners swear the upside down wiper motors are original to their truck--a lot of shenanigans can occur over 60 years--I've done my share over that time !

I shouldn’t rely on my memory, it’s clearly lacking these days. I know I looked at this wiper stuff in the parts catalog before, but obviously its vacated the premises 😂.

According to the ‘65 parts catalog, the LHD and RHD wiper harnesses come up the left side of the windshield frame, so the connections at the motors are all on the left.

The RHD wiper is 85110-60010 and the LHD is 85110-60030. My ‘63 45 and ‘65 40 only have one hole to the right of the motor in the windshield frame. Both are LHD but the ‘63 has the lower mount motors and the ‘65 40 has the higher mount motors. ‘63 45 parks left, ‘65 40 parks right.

No idea why the ‘63 45 has the RHD motors and the ‘65 40 has the LHD motors.

Fj25s had the vacuum hose running up both upright sides of the windshield frame for the vacuum powered windshield wipers.
I have never seen an early FJ40/45 with the holes on both sides.
But Toyota could have used left over 20 series windshield frames on early Cruisers.

This is my FJ25 that I added TNK electric motors to.

Sorry for diving so deep into 60 year old wiper motor trivia. But I love dorking out on early Cruiser stuff.
This all maybe should be made into a useless thread on TNK wiper motors.

Here is a RHD with wire harness on left side.
