My understanding was that everyone was going to stop at the Cracker Barrel on IL. 157 for a bite to eat and hook up with Vicky and me so I don't have to go 140 miles out of my way to hook up with you.

Bill, did you get into the ether again. Im guessing you are talking about I-55 and I-64 intersection. The I-57 and I-64 is mount vernon and there actually happens to be a cracker barrel there to so you had me all confuse for a second.

But if there is a wal-mart, T&A truck stop ( I know its TA truck stops), or something along those lines were we could all meet up in a good sized parking lot I say we can make that (I-55 and I-64) the new location for all of us to meet.

For the hoosier cruiser, I -70 runs into I-55. If you look at google you will see that the become the same highway.

Intially Todd, John, and I were going to meet up with the hoosiers in Effingham, and then meet up with you and vicky around the st louis area so you wouldnt have to drive out of your way

Thanks Ron, that sounds good.
Mark if you are coming over on I64 you will pass within 5 miles of my place. There is a Cracker Barrel and a McDonalds at Illinois 157 and I64 which is next to the I255 loop very easy to get in and out of. Both of them have room for trucks and trailers.

I've checked out all the computer maps that I'm willing to and have 2 different links. To get to the Cracker Barrel on IL 157 take I70 west to exit 10, I255 south to exit 20, I64 east stay in right lane as it turns into the exit 9, IL 157 turn right to the Cracker Barrel.
Driving Directions Search - Rand McNally The Google map does'nt have MO AA listed and there are no signs for what they consider MO Y where you need to turn.

Ether, No. I don't care if you want to drive through Texas first, just trying to save you some gas and time. If you would rather skip the Cracker Barrel I can meet you at the park. I don't intend on eating there. I'll eat at home before I leave.

The McDonalds across from the CB has semi parking and there is also a Taco Bell with a huge parking lot. Ample parking is the point. This exit is the easiest for getting off of I255 and back on I255 for such along train of rigs as there are no lane changes for ether on or off with long on ramps so it's easy to blend with traffic when getting back on I255.

Hey Bill, what about i-70/i-55 and 157. Think this is what john was talking about in an earlier post. It seems to have a wal-mart and quite a few different food choice. I personally wouldnt mind meeting here incase I forget to bring something and dont have to stop twice looking for a wal mart.

New map with starting location, where we would all meet --->http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sou...52417,-91.07666&spn=2.266545,4.921875&t=h&z=8
and can someone tell woody to change the hyperlink font color????

I didn't check the other links and found that they didn't work, sorry. The first address is the Cracker Barrel. The directions to Washita have Mo. AA listed as Mo. Y but Mo. Y is not on the sign where you need to turn only AA if I remember correctly. Also the I255 loop south avoids the crap of I55 downtown St.L. These computer directions are alright but I always go back to a good old fashioned atlas for main route choices.

Again since I'm ridin Bi**h I don't care where we meet..

It did just occur to me that if Mark is not going, we need someone to do the 50/50 thing for the save tellico fund. I will step in & do that if noone else wants to.

Also on that note the Georgia Cruisers are having a $10.00 per ticket raffle to win a 89 fj62. All proceeds go to save tellico fund. Visit their site on Clubhouse fourm for more info.

Well guys, I am sad to have to say this but it looks like I will be going on this adventure with you all in spirit only. I got a call from my brother in FL on Sat. about my dad and the message was that dad was only given a few days to live. Dad is 85 with Alzheimers and lately has been diagnosed with severe congestive heart failure. Since then he has gone down hill very fast. Long story short, I drove down to FL Sunday not knowing whether he would still be with us when I got here. I made it in time but they say he will probably be gone by morning. Made funeral arrangements this AM and it looks like that will occur later in the week if their estimate on TOD is correct. I will be lucky to get back home by Sunday. I am really glad I came down and I believe he is too. I look forward to seeing all the pics/videos and especially hearing about all the stories (fodder for future campfires) :). You guys have a safe trip now.

With you in spirit,
Ron

Very sorry to hear that Ron. :frown:

**Insert inappropriate joke, because im an infant, in 3...2...1....**

But who are we going to explain gravity too...?

Sorry Ron, glad you were able to get down there though.

I brought my sister down with me and she helped do some of the driving. Thanks to everyone for all the kind words.

I went through this map with some close detail when we get off the 4 lanes, Wow, guess you can't cut straight roads through the hills! Some of the roads don't even have names on that route.

Hey Bill, have you traveled most of these roads? Are some gravel? Is there banjo music in the background?

I took a "off the beaten path" route to GSMTR last year that I will not soon forget. Was a very windy, steep hilled, dirt road, pulling my 62 on a trailer. I personally renamed this Joe Brown Highway to The Joe Dirt Highway.

I am familiar with the route to Farmington but not from park to park. The directions from Salem to Flat nasty are correct. We went over on I44 and dropped down a scenic route to Salem when we went there. The addresses on the map are for the parks taken from their web sites. I did buy a paper fold out map of Missouri for more detail, it's better but still does not show some of the roads. I will bring that with for you guys to look at and use.
