So I have been adamant about the only place Toyota fails is their lack of cupholders. Especially in the 80. I need hydration! So I recently got a 3D printer and thought, hmmm... I can solve this!

I started with a pretty simple design based on one I saw on Maker World. But it didn't fit right, the lid to the console was hard to open, AND NONE OF MY CUPS OR BOTTLES WOULD FIT! It also left something to be desired in the visual department as well. First order of business was making a Nalgene fit, which was harder than I thought.

Next was form.

Finally, I wanted the fitment to be premium- pressure fit into the cupholder so you don't have to worry about your drinks spilling, but you could remove it if you wanted to. Also no drilling. All of the other cupholder solutions require drilling, and honestly I don't want to do that. What if I want to go back to stock at some point? I change my mind like most people change their underwear haha.

On attempt #4, I got all 3! So behold..... The SuperFancy Cupholder!!!!

It will fit all LHD 91-94 80 series with the square cupholder on the side of the center console. It is made of PETG (for now! I am experimenting with PETG-CF and ASA right now also). Should be a perfect blend of UV and heat resistance to keep my excessive amounts of caffeine and water stable on road trips, because no one like a lap full of bev. lol.

The are up for pre-order at **PRE-ORDER** 91-94 80 Series SuperFancy Cupholder — Red Dog Overland - https://www.reddogoverland.com/shop/p/pre-order-91-94-80-series-superfancy-cupholder if you want to pick one up! I will most likely be shipping first or second week of July. I am just tweaking some color options right now!

holla if you have any questions!! They will be available in cocoa and black to start!

The pre '95's must be more primitive, like the older wagon series.

My '97 LX came with two somewhat frivolous cupholders, one as a dash pull out and a real small one alongside the center console.

But who needs 'em? Real men don't hydrate. :flipoff2:

I’d like to commend you on your get up and go (find a problem and fix it), but $70 plus shipping for a piece of plastic…! Huh uh! Sorry 👎

And what does it do? Doubles a cup holder capacity! Just another first world problem. That particular cup holder is not in the best of places either. I’ve upgraded my driver seat to a Sheel Mann with an armrest and if I’m using the armrest I cannot use that cup holder, no matter how great it is. Yeah I know, just another first world problem.

May not apply to you but modifying an existing location w/out compromising the cockpit is "welcomed " for us that has the OEM seats.
Agree $70 Is a little $ but if you can afford Sheelmann......🤷‍♂️...😉

The existing location for that "cup holder" sucks - for any type of beverage container. It's awkward to access which makes it a distraction for the driver. I believe that Mr. T considered it a junk holder like the other square one in the console - whatever they are, they're a poor attempt as cup holders. Small drinks only - if even used. I totally agree with The OP that cup holders and their locations in the early 80 series is a weak point in the interior design. Mine is a '94 and I don't know if it was improved from '95 on and really could care less. Like I said before, just a 1st world problem. Plenty of ways fix this if it is really a priority. But location and easy access should be considered for safety as well as convenience.

@GearGeek
Thanks for making this. I use that location for my water bottle and coffee. I preffer not to clutter my console with "cup holders"..... Oder on the way for either my 93 or my 96!!

My current cup holder in my 95...its always in the way of passengers leg.

Japanese folk are not big “continuous hydrators”. Travel distances in Japan are way shorter as well. It’s an American big gulp legacy to have a living room in one’s car.

haha it's meant for the stock location and may not be everyone's cup of tea, but those who see the value will love it! You are actually the first negative nancy, but to each is own. It's a shame those Scheel Mann don't come with a cupholder in the armrest for the price :P

Design seems fine to me.

For filament, you might want to try out 3dFuel's PCTG. It's like a tougher, slightly higher temp version of PETG. It's my new favorite by a mile. They've also got a lot of color options. Their charcoal gray isn't too bad a match for the gray interior in my 96. Not quite as good as Form Futura's ASA, but that's expensive, difficult to get and a lot weaker.

I get 3d printers are exciting but you started a thread pretending to solve a problem but really selling a product without being a vendor. Given, this is $70 and doesn't even have any form of tension arms for varying cup sizes nor any rubber on the drop-in insert to prevent it from partially popping out on an accidental large bump (using hope, prayer, and gravity to keep it in place).

Hey! I am not a Mud vendor, but I have been a business in the Land Cruiser space for about 5 years now. I have been an event sponsor for GSMTR, SAS, Capitol Cruisers Fall Crawl, and Relic Run, and I have worked with Tread Lightly to sponsor quite a few trail clean ups at those events and in FL (where I am based). I have been making other products for some time, but I admittedly get a little burnt out on social media, so only the local guys really ever see my stuff.

BH3D was the other cupholder available that I could find, and I didn't find the form, function, or install suitable, so I wanted to add this product to my line up. At $65, I believe mine offers a more OEM like solution. Most cupholders don't have fully rubber inserts, and mine uses pressure to keep the cup inside, though a bouncy enough road or trail will test even the best cupholder, unless you literally strap it in.

To address the price, the materials are about $35 to produce the cupholder- I use quality filaments meant to last in the sun and heat, as well as a high quality rubber for the insert. It also includes machine time/ wear and tear/ electricity, (overhead), design time, shipping, and shipping materials so your product arrives unscathed at your doorstep, ready to install! I am not out of line with other vendors. :)

If you read the website description, there is a rubber insert, it is just not in the photos yet. This is a protoype post, and promoting the pre-sale for those interested.

Let me know if you have any other questions I can answer!

Thanks! I had actually just ordered some of their PCTG and a few different ASA's the other day.
