Why do single sided beadlocks work? (1 Viewer)

Good point. So I'm compliant then being unmodified. Dual beadlock is probably best for actual hardcore users though. I take my 80 to work and back and the 40 is slated for expedition style trips with the young kids. The H1 rims take a lot of work to change tires.

BTDT ditched them after a couple of Rubicon/Fordyce trips.

I'd be interested to know why as I don't have anything to compare to myself so i don't know if these dual beadlocks are good or bad. Then I'll let the thread get back to single sided beadlocks...

The hummer wheels are really heavy, but they work.
The weight was the issue. Aside from putting more strain on everything I had a hard time mounting/unmounting the wheels from the truck.

Ok, thanks for the response. I can appreciate that, I cut about 10 or 15 lbs off each rubber insert and they still weight 145 lb per tire/wheel.

They were the cheapest way I found to get tires in the size I wanted with rims that would fit over the 80 series axles and brakes that I narrowed to fit the 40. It was about $1050 for 5 tires and wheels shipped to me. At the time I figured that was a good deal. In the rear I have a narrowed 80 axle with E-locker and FJ cruiser discs and 40 series backing plate. E-Brake moved to T-Case on the 60 series diesel engine that I swapped in. Front axle is Hellfire knuckles on a 62 series (factory truss of sorts) front housing with the 80 E-Locker and 80 brakes. In other words I had bigger intentions for abusing the 40 initially.

so you have six lug, modified hummer rims then correct?

No, you'll probably judge me for it but I have 6 bolt to 8 bolt aluminum spacers that are 2" thick. 2" brings the H1 wheels to zero offset. The spacers that I have seem good so far with no strength issues and more fasteners holding the two halves together than I've seen on some spacers out there.
