I beg to differ with you, the silver 07 i got rid of to keep the 2000 was a very nice car, but when driven back to back it was noticeable...the wife git back in the 2000 after a summer and 5k miles in the 07 and would not give it up said sell the 07! I know I know you love your silver 07 , i went looking for one but was disappointed after 17 years with our 2000...realy like things like the real glass headlights instead of the green tinted plastic ones , the 16 wheels and tires ride better ( though the 18’s on the 07 handled better and the 5 speed and the extra 35 horses were nice on the 07...if i could blend them together i would...like i said unless you own both and live with both you would never know it..but if you dig into the blogs here i am not the only one noticing this..

I have owned 3 so far, an ‘03, ‘06 and now I have an ‘01.

I have had the ‘01 a couple of weeks and it has 240k miles and have been having the thought..... “there’s just something about this vehicle that seems “more solid” than my ‘06 with 135k.

Then I saw the Araco badge on passenger door this afternoon, then googled “Araco” and this thread comes up.

🤷🏽‍♂️

Might just be the 4 speed and non vvt motor making it feel heavier because it's slower. 🙂

But the last true LC made for NA was the 80!

does anyone have a list of the Toyota Japan Plant Codes and their corresponding location? or perhaps a link to a list?
All I know is A11 and A51. But I have seen a manufacture plate indicating Plant P11.
Thank you.

EDIT: Could P11 be the Hino Plant in Hamura, Tokyo Prefecture? I've seen the Plant P11 code in the manufacture plate of Hiluxes (N106/N166), Hilux Surfs (N185/N215), FJCs, and Prados (J150).

The Araco built 100s are worth a thousand dollars more on resale. You have a collector's item. ;)

In that case anybody sells a replacement ARACO sticker? ;)

Correct.

P1 = Hino Hamura plant
1= Assembly Line #1

Ok could not resist this 06 lx , i was the under bidder on the green 108k 06 lx on BAT last month that sold for 40k even with all the cosmetic body damage…went to drive it then got caught up in the last minute bidding my last bid was $39750… i know, i know just nuts…a week later did a search and found this 06 pictured at a volvo dealer an hour away with 186k miles dealer serviced since new and a lot less paint issues than the green lx ( by the way they drove identical) and bought it for $19500!!
things i like better than the 2000
1) 45 more horse power ( and it is noticeable)
2) 5 speed trans
3) 06-7 rims
4) its something new after 20 years with the 2000
4) stock sound system over the nakamici
5) uhhhhh ( thats all i can think of)
things i like better With the 2000lx with 326k
1) drives tighter than the 06
2) better build quality in the body ( absolutely noticeable)
3) steering not as light as the 06 …06 is too light!( i think a lot of women must have complained)
4) better quality leather
5) more solid on the road even with 140k more miles
6) real Glass head lights! ( already bought oem plastic headlights for the 06 to replace fogged and sun cracked one $750pr!)
Don’t get me wrong i like both of them but if could only have one it would be the araco built truck
remember i had a beautiful silver 07 lx with 94k miles i sold to keep the 258k mile 2000lx( at the time) now 326k
just sayin if you have not owned BOTH a the same time and can go back and forth driving them you won’t know
that being said ANY LC or LX any year is one hell of a vehicle , you can’t go wrong..

Great comparison. I have an ARACO built ‘04 but have never driven an 06/07. Love the glass headlights - keeps it looking new!

Ha ! Look what I found on my ‘98 pass. door

I think all ‘98-‘04s have these.

What do you mean by better body build quality and “tighter “? Genuinely curious

It’s hard to describe without drive both back to back (2000lx araco built and 2006 toyota built) when i drive the 06 with 186k then drive the 00 with 326k the 00 drives better , more solid and planted on the road , more comfortable ride , body feels tighter…i just had my Toyota Master mechanic go over the 06 after purchase he said it was in great shape , tight suspension, all shocks good ,steering rack good..new Michelins..all it needed was what i took it in for ( timing belt service) don’t get me wrong i like the color of the 06 with the ivory interior and galactic mica gray paint AND the 275hp! It really moves when getting on the interstate..however on the 3 1/2 drive to visit my daughter at college ( that is 7 hours in one day) i will be taking the 2000 lx..remember i also had a 2007 silver lx with 94k that i kept for 6 months before selling because the wife said she liked her ‘old’ 2000lx with 258k at that time better ( and she is not a car person)

All I know is my 2001 LX drives and rides better than every new vehicle that I have rode in. Of course to get there, I had to replace some maintenance type of things because it is 20 years old!

I don't ever see me getting rid of the 2001 LX, I just hope no one ever wrecks into it!

I agree, we purchased our 2000 LX 20 years ago with 32k on the clock now 326k wife said i think i want something new…we drove Audi Q7 she said ( don’t like the way it drives and too much plastic, feels cheap) drove LX570 ( said feel too big like a boat and does not drive as good as old LX) drove Range Rover ( when we looked at reliability ratings that killed that) so i bought the 2006 LX with 186k …still better quality and drives better than any of them…however the Araco built ( like your 2001 ) is the best driving even with 326k! I an even keeping an eye out for another in the right colors non new England truck..
