Didn't know the fiog was a thing in the pan. Mines always seeped a bit since the rebuild. It needs a trans service anyways so I grabbed some. Little spendy but I'm sure it's worth it.
I just checked the catalog. There is no pan gasket listed for that application so it would have definitely originally used FIPG for pan sealing.

Oh I believe you. But I haven't had the pan off since it was rebuilt. So whatever the trans shop did is leaking a little.

We'll get it handled.

I wrapped up the install on the Nomad valve body and I'm looking forward to driving with it soon. I let the pan drip for a couple days before I got started and that definitely made the job a little cleaner. There is a typo in the kit instructions that says to remove the 21 8mm bolts to pull the valve body, but the instructions meant to say remove the 21 10mm bolts (removing 8mm bolts will disassemble the valve body). An additional hand is really helpful when placing the Nomad unit in, as the accumulator pistons, springs, kickdown cable, grommets, and manual valve lever/pin all have to be set as the unit goes in.

The posts in this forum were also really helpful for detailing the process with pictures and included some tricks on how to get the accumulator piston out, holding the kickdown cable cam, etc: A442F Extreme valve body install / change over - https://www.landcruiserclub.net/community/threads/a442f-extreme-valve-body-install-change-over.123356/

While I've got an A442F, OTRAMM's install video on an A343F is also helpful and follows the same general process:

well spotted
