We were in Cashiers NC from Mon. till Fri. lunch, I knew 178 was out of the question and went through Brevard (no 276 either) to Hendersonville. A total war zone from Brevard till downtown Hendersonville, Flat Rock was demolished trees and power poles all over the road.

Never lost power this whole time. But I havent gotten to watch any tv in days and we still dont have any yet.

Never went off for me as well. But been watching TV the entire time. Although I have it through my phone system. Not cable. Do you have Charter? If so good luck their customer service can suck at times!! long story there!!

Still no cable even though I have called twice now. I'm gonna call tomorrow and tell them my bill better be corrected accordingly. Theres cable everywhere around me.

X generation

Let there be lights! Power from the man returned about 4:35 p.m.
this Sunday.
I'm no longer in the home power generation business. I used about
30 gallons of petrol during the outage. Furnance, hot and cold running
water and fridge takes a good bit of work.
Hot tub's humming. Ready by tomorrow. We NEED it.
I also burned about a 1/4 of a cord of hardwood too. My back
is killing me from lifting gas cans and bundles of wood.
I think of all the "things" we missed, Mud was the most missed.
Ohm.....cruiser,cruiser,cruiser....Ohm

Welcome back to civilization David! Hang in there the rest of you guys!

Power in Cashiers

Hope everyone has power by now - like Jim said it's like the 3 weeks we went without power after Wilma.

Hell of a drive up from Palm Beach - we had rain from Central Florida all the way into north Georgia - pouring buckets - I can imagine what it was like up here with freezing temps. Started seeing salt on the roads at 1:00 a.m. taking the back road up to Highlands. Saw a bit of trees down on SC 107 today, but everything is already cleaned up.

David - glad you got power, bummer about the hot tub, we're getting ready to dip into the one here at the cabin. We ran down to Easely for dinner tonight and stopped by your office, but didn't want to stop by the house on such short notice. We're thinking of going over to Caeser's Head and the Pickens Flea Market on Wednesday. Let me know if that'd be a good day for lunch or dinner at the Sushi restaurant in Easely. I'll send a PM - hopefully you've emptied your inbox by know.

Bill and Laura :D

I'm still in the dark!!!

No power for me at the bottom of Paris Mountain. The neighborhood apparently is on three separate "power supplies". The first third got power Friday night, the second went back on-line Saturday afternoon...meanwhile, my side of lake still has to use flashlights and yell obsenities across the water to our neighbors who have power.

I'm optimistic that power will be restored Monday, but Liz thinks we'll be the last ones in the county to be back with the real world.

That's what happened to me during last year's and this year's hurricanes. One time when I called, they insisted my power was on, but it was not. Finally snagged a crew out on the main road and they worked past dark-thirty to get me fired-up.

Good luck to you guys still ithout juice.

Wild Bill has landed!

Glad ya'll made it! I have a check for you too. :) It ought to
about cover your dues....hehe....Chuck wrote it.
I'm in Capital City Court Monday, but, Lynn will be holding down
the Fort at Pickens. Speaking of .....going by my office on
an afternoon looking for me isn't the best of plans. Mornings?
Maybe. Afternoons. Usually not. Dinner time? Never.
Pickens Jockey Lot? Dude! You are a local now. Think
EARLY. The thing is over by lunch. Have fun.
Stop by the house ANYTIME. Day or night.
Send me a pm here at Mud with some #s to call.
Capt'n Jim said you had most of my phone #s.
I have a lot of e-mail to dump due to power outage.
I missed the BOD elections too. :(
Gimme a call. I should be home by late lunch tomorrow.

I was at the pickens flea mrket last wednesday. It was rather cold. got a few things. We love going to that place I try to take my comp days from work on Wed. So we can go up there visit the in-laws and go to the FM!!

Pickens Jockey Lot

Kool! Stoked about the FM. We just switched plans - we will be down for the flea market early AM. Let us know if you want to do lunch or dinner - lunch timing would be better for us, then we could hit Travelor's Rest to do more of the tourist thing. I'd also like to stop by and see Alan. Call my cell at (561) 512-8389 - if Jim didn't tell you I'm near deaf and can't use the phone (pending surgery 1/19), but I'll have my girlfriend answer. We'll try and give you a ring later today when you're out of court...Jim did send me the numbers.

Dues!!! Heck yeah, I'll give you the diff. - sign me up. Althought I can't accept Chuck's payment until he tears the calipers apart and verifies they're good, or at least gets his $20 back using them for cores.

As to yesterday, we just happened to drive past the office. Will stop by the house anytime now that we know it's ok.

Really enjoying our vacation from the Rat Race - I'd move here if I could find a substitution for my surfing addiction :D

Lunch after the Jockey Lot(JL). We'll wait on you at the office and go from there.
Off road note: Just down the road from the JL is the County maintainance building.
It is the same building that housed Henkle's Jeep. Once the largest seller
of jeeps in the USA. He built the race track that is now Capt'n Jim's driveway.
TR has $unrift Adventures. I love that store. A visit to Alan's for some serious drool time is a must. Man, his cruisers just get better and better. It's scary.
I'll call tonight.
Marshal's right about the river surfing. Ole Chuckster can school you in
the fine art of cooler surfing too.

Welcome to Fla north. :flamingo:
:flipoff2:

BUMMmmmmmmmmm.............MMMmmmmmmmmmm.................ZZZZZZZZZZZSSSTTTTTttttttttttttttttttttt.......................ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzztttttt.................still no power. I'm starting to like the shower at work. I love it when you can just bathe and then turn around and see your co-worker taking a dump. LOL. Eh well i guess it will be on sometime soon.
