Yep, after leaving messages last night, and this morning at 9:30 and this afternoon at 2:30, and calling the 800 customer service number for the umptenth time, I got confirmation that they did look at it yesterday, and that it is totaled (big surprise there!). They won't have a value assesment until friday though - which I'm not happy about. Though once we agree on a value, they can cut the check emmediately, so if I accept there offer on Friday, I'll have a check Friday. They're going to cover the car seats cause they are required by law and therefore considered part of the vehicle. The 200 dollar CO2 life jacket that my dad left in the truck when he was visiting is not covered or my gps. The manager I talked to wasn't 100% sure, but he believes that the rule in Oklahoma is that if it's more than 10 model years old - and I just confirmed that with an OK Salvage title search. So I should end up with a clean and green title (in OK it is literally a green title opposed to marked title which is red).
Unfortunatlely there was a relatively low mileage (134K) '86 4 Runner for $1650 in town I missed cause of the delay. My thoughts right now are maybe by a stockish or even non-stockish 4 Runner after I get my moo-la, and drive it while I fix the interior on the 80. Then decided to sell or keep it. Though I think I'll put it up for sale anyway as soon as the insurance is taken care of - and if any of those "Keep it" people want to do the work rather than me, they can have it!
Yes, I'm a rambling mess - I don't like uncertainty.....
Do not accept any assessment options without the advise of an attorney, this is binding arbitration, you will forced to accept the result.

Don't let it sit. It will only become harder. I say jump right in as soon as you get the cash. Get it done and move on.
Take a deep breath and chill, my friend.Do some research and come up with a realistic value for your rig, and stick to it. Their first offer will likely be the lowest possible offer. If you appear desperate, you will loose all leverage.
If you don't like the offer, insist on documentation on how they calculated the value. Also, document all conversations and retain any paperwork that you receive.Do not accept any assessment options without the advise of an attorney, this is binding arbitration, you will forced to accept the result.
Remember, they have to settle with you. You do not have to settle with them until you are satisfied.![]()
I can't believe i'm the first to say "that'll buff out..."
bummer bud, but sounds like you'll have a project and maybe enough for an economy car too...

I would go the other direction. Find a truck in good shape with a fried engine and no lockers - should be stupid cheap. Transplant your known, serviced power train from Engine to axles over to it.
Of course that sounds easier than it is. Time, space and money... And no, I don't want/need another project.
I hope you get this worked out and get into your or another 80 soon. Good luck to you.

Nice thought but that would put him back to where the wheel wells need some welding.![]()
