This is all really great input. I'll likely buy just 1 and it will be for occasional use on the truck.
What's the value of having one on the trail?
I still have muscle in my arms and can do all this manually, but heard somewhere that impacts are safer on the bolts as they tend to strip and round...I'm new to my 80 so I could be off in this point.
On the trail? ABSO-F-ING-LUTELY!
After a trip where buddy pulled out his Snap-On impact (he's a mechanic and so can justify the spendy tool) and whizzed off the lugs and other otherwise tedious bolts during a trail fix of a broken axle shaft, I went home and threw mine in my trail kit. It came in handy during my own axle removal. So it, a spare batt (at a minimum for every trail run) and the charger (it stays in the camp tools/spares box) go with me every time.
