Got a food challenge for you... got anything for Alexandria or Pineville, LA?

Tunk's Cypress Inn is THE place out there. It is between the 2 towns.

Back in the day there was a Semolina but it has closed.

Bistro on the Bayou was in the old Officers Club at the Air Base. It was damn good.

There are quite a few crawfish shacks around that serve good poboys when crawfish season is not on.

I have spent a ton of time there for work and Tunks is the best.

My dad and Billie went on their 2nd anniversary trip to New Orleans. Usually he eats at crappy spots so I jumped in and set up a food safari for him.

Harbor Seafood for lunch yesterday.....my new find Kenner at the Airport exit.

Harbor Seafood & Oyster Bar - Kenner, LA

They went next door to the market and got a load of monster shrimp and Snapper for me :D

Last night they went to The Palace Cafe

This morning Mothers.

Damn. I'm hungry.

Ha. Harbor is where I took my future father in law out to lunch to tell him I was marrying his daughter. And my brother in law cooks at Palace Cafe. Dig. Still think Mother's is overrated, though.

I do too but they were staying next door...they are old and I did not want to send them walking in the quarter to my favorite breakfast spot (Camellia Grill) in this heat.

I like Mothers but its is for sure over rated. I didn't think they would get the whole Lucy's thing either LOL

Harbor....very cool story. What an awesome place.

I don't know, I think Memphis has some damn good grub. I am not a big fan of the BBQ but there are some sweet spots.

Have to been to Las Tortugas in Germantown? Holy crap, I dream of that place.....

There's another good Mexican place down the street from me, but kinda in the hood... Las Delicias. Very reasonably priced too.

We hit up Tunk's for dinner. Even got the fried Alligator appetizer! Good thing we have to return to Alexandria, we had a hard time figgerin' out what to order. Good stuff!

Was going to suggest the alligator.

How was it? Used to be great.

Alexandria is in the tip-top of Acadiana so if you travel a bit south toward the casino you can really get into some good food.

That was my first time eating the gator... it was surprisingly tasty. Kinda had a chicken-pork-fish flavor and texture.

never been there actually....what the heck are you doing? lay over?

id go out on a limb and say it's all authentic..........
