Mandina's in NOLA last night was incredible. Soft shell crab topped with shrimp étouffée, wife had trout meunière, calamari app. All was killer. On top of that, we got out of there with drinks and tip for under $100. Jackson food is so damn overpriced.

Competition in NO is a lot harder. Good eats. Love that place.

Bacchus

Nolen, Chris, anyone who visits the coast...Have you eaten at Bacchus in Gulfport? We had supper there a couple of weeks ago and I think it was excellent, but my judgement may have been impaired by the Andygator I was drinking before the meal came. :hhmm:

I have never eaten there.

My new favorite Po Boy in Jackson area is from Soulshine though. It is REALLY good. The bread is straight-up New Orleans flaky and the sauteed shrimp is off the chain.

Recommend.

I ate very little lunch, combined with no work to do, im just salivating .........

did you see the location? not your neck of the woods but got an idea now?

totally agree

Soul Shine on Lakeland is good. Cool atmosphere ( good tunes, all brick bar, huge ceiling fan?) And food. Pulled pig nachos were great and they have a good beer selection.

Timber Beast on tap? I'm there. :D:beer:

I don't suppose they have a location in Hattiesburg? Or on the coast?

And it was good. I had my first! Not sure on locations Lee. Website has jackson locations only so I'm guessing no.

Here's your chance to be on the cutting edge. You could hook up with the owners and convince them to open restaurants in Laurel, Hattiesburg, Eastabuchie, Wiggins...the possibilities are endless.

I'd love that, and I hate to burst your bubble, but other than hattiesburg none of those locations can support a wendy's AND taco bell much less a decent restaraunt!!!

You've been in the big city too long. Laurel has a Wendy's and Taco Bell. Wiggins has a Wendy's and a Taco Bell and a Subway and a Sonic. Eastabuchie, well, that's virgin territory, ripe for the pickin'. And then there's D'Lo...;)
