We are looking for a good supplier of roof rack mounts for buliding racks.

Myself, Crusified and his dad are going to build 3 racks at the same time and will probably each go with 6 gutter mounts. A local shop makes them but they are $40 a pop so were reluctant to drop $240 a rig on just the mounts.

I saw a thread on how to make your own but it looks difficult...

And links/ recommendations would be great!

I used the mounts mentioned above on the rack I made for my my 60. They work great, are quite strong and he is a pleasure to do business with. I used 5 mounts, 2 on each side and 1 in the center rear. The rear one is good as that is where my ladder mounts and I climb up.

craigslist Thule or Yakima.

Just make sure they are the base version raingutter towers...

Ok, just put in an order for 24 mounts from Mark. That will be 8 per rig, and I think they will be pretty stout.

Hope these are done in time for hunting season...

Seems like mark is no longer making his ?

I’m looking for some leads on quality and affordability.

Where did you get that idea?

I vote for options above.

If you have to make your own, and can weld strong/safe (don't be killing anyone with a cold welded rack blowing off your roof), you can make a plate down from the rack with a 1/2" nut welded to it, then drop a grade 8 -5/16 bolt through that to a piece of 1/2"x1/2" angle to grab the drip rail. A lock nut cinches it down. Sounds hokey but works great. You kinda have to tack it in place so mask the truck off and don't burn the glass with spatter (ask me how I know).

In other words, buy mounts from a vendor here on mud lol
