Where is my oxygen sensor?

I have an '82 FJ40. I'm trying to replace my oxygen sensor after being advised upon failing my smog.
I was expecting to find the sensor on my catalytic converter which looks like the top one in one of the two pics, but can't find it. Even the FJ40 exhaust diagram doesn't show it, even though all online sources show a sensor like the one also pictured below. I've traced my entire exhaust and don't see a sensor like the one pictured. My converter does have a connector that's attached to a black hose that seems to go into the floorboard.
Anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks Guys.
It's interesting how a lot of part suppliers, incl SOR, show an O2 sensor for this vehicle.
My high readings were the HC and CO. I was told high HC could be from O2 sensor and CO could be from timing being too advanced. Somehow I'm at 12 degrees.
Both were only at 25 MPH. Low speed tests passed.

Joe-
I just responded to the other thread, do you have an emissions manual for your 82? Also, everyone is correct, you have a temp sensor, not O2.

Ok, then no O2 sensor. But there should be a 'thermosensor' that inserts into the CAT. That Thermo-sensor is, unfortunately, often clipped off and discarded when an aftermarket CAT is installed that does not have the sensor port. Toyota calls it an Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor.

A new sensor is pretty much unobtanium, and around $400 if you happen to find a NOS one. Prolly some used ones around, if you have to have it. A used one from 60-series may work, dunno, as it's a different part #, but that may be just the length of the wire lead.

If you have the oem cat with the triangular mounting flanges you could replace it with a magnaflow direct fit replacement (#23894) for about $200 from amozon. It even has the mounting tube for the temperature probe.

Hi Guys, just curious, I pulled out my old cat and it's much heavier than I had imagined. It weighs 24lbs.
Could that also be an indication that it's clogged with a bunch of gunk? Or is that a normal weight for a stock cat?

What's crazy is that I fixed my timing and now the car runs worse. It ran great when it was at 12 deg advanced.
Seems I've got other problems.

Slowly going through emissions manual...

I'm ion CA. I tried running the car without the CAT yesterday. It ran great, although super loud. Things seem to point more and more to a bad cat. Just ordered a Magnaflow, which I'll have Wednesday.
