My '67 has all of the brackets to hold a vacuum line but it never had anything there.
No gapping holes begging for some vaccum either.
Can anyone tell me where this line comes from and goes to?
Thanks,
Brog

On my 77 with a 2F I have a similar hose going from the block to the air filter assembly. I think its more that kind of hose rather than vacuum.

Vaccum Line

That is actually the hose that feeds antifreeze to your heater box inside the cab.

that looks like a heater hose.

a 67 should have only one vacuume line, it will go from the dizzy to the carb.

not sure on a 67 where the PCV line is, on my 65 it goes from the oil filler to the base of the carb

here is a pic of my 65 fj40, all stock

Tucker...the GD Virgin Mary herself would be proud to eat off your firewall!!!

That thing run? It is clearly in need of some mud!

hey thats my 64 45LV! pic is not correct, it does not show the PCV line, its on now though. Also the heater hose in not really suppose to be there........there is NO heater and never was, why the hose in there I dont know, it has no hold downs on the firewall.

better to look at the pic of my 65 fj40

From the picture it look like your pointing to the heater hose...from the heater valve on the head to the inlet on the firewall. I don't think that was what you were asking about though...here's a pic of a '67 - maybe it will help?

I have corrected some stuff, if you want another pic let me know.

Sorry for the theft Pimp...I've been collecting pics of 1F's for my FJ55 rebuild (got the engine in boxes) and that was the cleanest pic of a firewall I had. It does have the heater hose though....

Pimp, that 45 is beautiful...It looks like someone spent many/many/many hours on it.

This explains the plug that I found in the block near the oil pressure hole.
It had a drain type plug in it, like on the bottom of the radiator. I assumed it was just to fully drain the block. So take a look at how the PO had the heater plumbed. It seems that everyone just had these two taps just connected together.

the connection for the heater hose should be on the head, same place as the temp sensor goes, it will have a dial to turn it off/on(or it might be on the lower rad hose junction) some even have a shut off on both.

this is on a 2f in a 67 fj45, you can see the connection just to the right of the temp sender(on the 2f it has seperate sender, heater holes. F motor will only have one hole with sender and heater sharing the same.

Alright, my temp sensor fitting does have a secondary outlet which is just plugged right now. This can easily be remedied. Last question, I swear.
Can you explain why everyone has what my PO used as an inlet and outlet just hosed together? (see pix above)

Hmm - maybe this is just for the early 1Fs...my 12/72 has three unions in the head - one for emissions temp sender, one for temp sender, and one for heater junction valve (butterfly)...in that order. Now that I look at it...just like your 2F - guess they changed the head when emissions came about.

That was a '73 (late) 1F from a FJ55 in the pic...

Hey Brog,

The way that is put together is totally wrong (unless I'm not seeing something) - you need a u-hose from the water pump up to the thermostat housing (no junction). You should have a junction in the lower radiator hose for the heater return and connect the top one to your head junction. This is how the heater works...hot water out of the head, return to radiator.

Junction on head...

Number 8 is return junction....

Tucker ,
Okay, so I'm obviuosly in need of some parts then.
What role does the bypass/ u-hose play in all of this by allowing coolant to flow from the thermostat housing to the pump?
Thanks for the help,
Brog

The hose does exactly what you said - acts as a bypass when the engine is cold and the thermostat is closed...ultimately letting hot water pass through the valve, opening it at the correct temp. For your heater you want hot water all the time from the head...and the return acts as a vacuum post pump.

Cool, one more aspect of my 40 that I now completely understand.
I took it down to the frame and have been learning ever since.
Thanks for all of the info guys,
Brog
