I just removed one off a UN 100 like in my very first picture. They are very solid steps. Now I have to assume all land cruisers have the threads in the body right........or is this something that they just started on the 100? I am willing to bet all of them have these threaded bolt holes already there. We just need to know where to drill through the skin. The UN guy I met today was cool. He has been driving UN cruisers for 14 years. He also told me there is a ladder that clamps on to the 3 steps for real easy access. Where do I find one of those?????
When I get a day off I will make a template of the 100 and try to take pictures. There really isnt much I can show you other than a hole. There is nothing to see inside. And these bad boys have armor. Who ever is making these armored ones are taking them off and filling the holes with allen head bolts
The more I think about it you should be able to find the threaded holes from the inside and stick something through to mark where to drill the holes. I would like to investigate this myself but my Land Cruiser is over 10k miles away. Could anybody do some exploratory surgery for me? I am sure there is a way to find the holes from the inside. I did notice that the "ornament" backing piece is a joke. I think it is to keep your shoes from scratching the paint or something. definatly not
These are in the EPC now. You can get them directly from Toyota.
Darn. Thanks for reminding me that I was skimmin haha.
This makes the install quite a bit more involved, cuz I'd imagine some significantly strong backing plates would have to be welded in place - strong enough to support 250 lbs or so of weight.
Also, does anyone have a pic of these installed on a North American market 80 series?
^x3Are these still available in the US for the passenger side?
