Car came out 2024, and I’m wondering when we can expect an update. The 200 series was released in 2008 and was updated in 2012 and then again in 2016. Looking to get a 250 for my wife but in no rush, and want see if they change or update things by adding a larger fuel tank, etc.

Anyone with insider info 👀

I would be shocked if they added a larger fuel tank.

I imagine a mid cycle refresh for the 27-28 model years would include some paint color changes, maybe some trim redos, and that will probably be it. Toyota does not seem inclined to do much with the 250. It would be nice if they did something about the fuel tank, added a Trail Hunter option, and/or added some TRD suspension upgrades. The Tacoma and the 4Runner get a variety of options, the Land Cruiser 250 does not.

Since making this post I see they haven’t really touched the 300 series and that’s been out since 22 right? I guess they’re going away from the frequent updates like they did on the 200. Thanks

The 300 series got a tech update in 2025 - not a facelift per say but it was an update nevertheless and that also came with a hybrid version a few months later.
I wouldn't expect an actual facelift anytime soon for the 250 - instead what you can expect maybe is tech updates/minor accessories/special editions/option changes. The design is still fresh.
LC300 facelift rumor is for MY2028 - nothing confirmed though just speculative guessing.
The 300 series has now been on the market now for almost 5 years, and the design hasn't changed and that definitely needs to be updated more than the 250 as its starting to look dated.

The FJ Cruiser never got an update from 2006 to 2014. I would expect the same with the LC 250

I wouldn't hold your breath on much changing short of some new colors and maybe a mild facelift in some way.

2027 heated and cooled rear seats, new color inked black & high mounted air intake.

I might buy one with these updates and options across trims:
  • More fuel capacity and range
  • Non-hybrid 4 cyl option
  • Front locker option
  • Sway bar disconnect option
  • Touring payload option
  • Tall spring option

Front locker might be a likely addition to the OT model soon. No way in hell they give different spring rate options and larger fuel tanks. And a sway bar disconnect isn't necessary with KDSS.

I was wondering the same.. but then remembered the "hurry up and make changes fast, but make sure you test them for many years before implementing" doesn't work on Land Cruisers. They take their time.

I drove the new 4runner 4 cyl turbo non hybrid. It was worse than the outgoing 4.0 v6. I sold my 5th gen 4 runner after 6 months, hated it.

What did you not like about it? We have that motor in my wife's non-hybrid Grand Highlander. I love everything about it except for the lack of engine braking on long descents.
I agree these have 0 engine braking!

T24A worse than the 1GR? Maybe in long term reliability but so far the new engines are holding up just fine. In every other metric the turbo 4 wins.

But to answer OP’s question, Toyota historically is slow to make any major changes. It’s usually little QOL things. For example 2027 models get rear cooled and heated seats as part of the premium package and black paint got a new name. That’s about it. I wouldn’t bet on any face lifts or new engine options for another 2-3 years.

Yes. Just got the 2027 and the rear heated and cooled seats are great.

doubt Toyota will do any major updates to the LC250 platform for the next 2-3

I would definitely like to upgrade to those rear heated and cooled rear seats... but i already have my BP51 suspension on my 2025
