Depending on the shape of the wheel, you can drill out and reattach the hubcap clips to a newer or different wheel.

I added a set of hubcap clips to a set of solid axle minitruck rims. you have to drill precisely and rivet the clips on, and then tack-weld the clips to the rims. It's a fair amount of work (24 clips for 4 rims) and you need a set of rims from which to get the donor clips. If you don't tack-weld the clips, they will spin around on you. I suppose you could use hot rivets, if you were hard-core about it.

Have had a few sets of oem wheels widened at Stockton. Sizes were 15x8's for FJ40 and one set of 16x8 for an FJ80. The offset on each set of wheels accommodated disk brakes. Not sure if this is what you're looking for but here's a couple pics. I plan on getting a set made for the troopy.

I believe that you will probably be all set if you were to space out the stock wheels. I have an 77 aussie 45 and it came with larger drums that the us. I tried the drum brake wheels and they didn't fit. I know that Randy (Cruiser82?) put spacers on this aussie troopie with hubcap wheels and they worked with spacers. I am pretty sure he will chime in. They look really good on his rig.

On a side note I have a set of clips I could send you for the cost of shipping if you want them.

bull i havehad a few sets of widened OEM stockton wheels as well. one set was 1xx8 with stock 3.5" bs and the other set is 16x8 with 5.25 bs/ the ones with 5.25 bs is what I have on the lv right now with 1.5 inch spacers int he rear and a sky widening kit int he front (in the process anyway)even with the deep bs (5.250 I am able to clear rear fzj80 calipers and have plenty of room on the front ones.my plan is to put an fj2 rear axle under the lv and match the wideth with the sky widening kit on the front thus the deep bs all around. if you are keep ing the stock axles or even upgrading to newing fj40 axles I would think 15x8's or 16x8's with 4" of back spacing would clear the stock rear fender so the tire would be able to articulate on the inside of it . i think a 15x8 with 3.5" bs would push the tire out to far and it would hit the outer fender. if you are planing on running a tire larger than a 33x10.5 you will prolly need to lift it inorder to clear the rear fender. that is just what I have have discovered anyway.
