Whats your FJ40 wheelbase?

I went ahead and flipped the springs and put the tire just to have an idea of the of how it would look lie and here it is. 99.5" kind looks like Isotels

nv4500 and bell is 27" ish plus
22-24" for the 203-205 depending on your adapter.

atlas 12-14"
atlas 4spd 15-17"
both plus adapters, clocking ring.

stak 3sp 13"
plus adapters, clocking ring.

Flipped 4" lift springs F&R. 37" or 38.5's. Not super hardcore, but works (most of the time) and is super cheap. :hillbilly:

I think that puts me about ~98" or so. I'd measure but I'm 15,000 miles away. :D

Not the greatest angle, but about the only pic I have with the front springs flipped as well as the rear.

Wish I had flipped the front springs a long time ago. Better approach and weight distribution is nice. Handles better, took some weight off the front end (on my third PAIR of longfields).

CRUISING GA are you sure about the 98"?

I had the same set up and I measured about 94".

can anybody else confirm this? Flipped 4" lift springs F&R. 37"= to 98" wheelbase

Why am I asking this? because I just installed and flipped the f100 springs(second picture) to be at 99.5"ish and I am goin to have to cut my rear fenders even more.

if I leave them like in the first picture I only get 94"ish and tire will be center...no need to cut fenders

You can also re-drill for the spring pin to get a little more, I don't know if you will get 2" at each end though...

 Oh yeah, the spring pin is centered in FJ40's. I remember redrilling both bottom leafs of each pack, then sliding the rest of the pack rearward. It's been over 10 yrs. since I did that & have since dumped any leaf suspension parts :bounce:

Perhaps my 4" lift springs are different. I really think I gained more than 2" ea. from flipping the springs, judging from the driveshaft slip exposed and moved shock placement, and how much fender I had to cut out of the rear.

I'll have to measure when I get back.

thanks Bailey!

Hey LT, you runnin' the Con with us this year or what ? I might need you to pull me off of a couple of rocks with my new wheelbase ;) Tell Mark thanks for sending the pics.

It's been a long time since I messed with leafs, but I'm 90% sure that's incorrect. I remember something along the lines of 19.5"/22.5" as the spring lengths on a 40 pack.

I'm 100% sure that the spring pins on a 40 are both offset.

A FJ55 has a front centered spring pin IIRC

if you get the long spring perches with multiple holes in them you can get an inch or two more on each end that way

If this is true, then wouldn't you gain 3" of wheelbase per spring flip, making final wheelbase after flipping stock springs F&R 96", and not 94"?

Which, unfortunately does not make me any more right than LC_Hamma, just optimistic. :D :flipoff2:

I don't want to hijack this thread but my question is wheelbase based...

I'm still pretty new at this "stretching" the 40 wheelbase so I'm hoping on getting some help here.

The 40 is going to be a DD with SUA, 2" OME lift and I'll be running 33". If I wanted to stretch the 40 to 108" or 117" (two of the stretched tubs that Aqualu offers) what would be my best course of action?

You will need to do some MAJOR frame modes for either of those wheelbases with leaf springs. Buy a 45 frame is my advice.

96" (i think) on 35" Krawles.

Front diff went forward bit over a inch, and the rear went back 5". Will re-drill the perches and move the front diff forward a little more once I get tube front fenders done.

95" wb on 37" tires, soa on custom alcans with a little lift over stock springs.
IMO if you are going larger than 37" tire you should be at 98"wb min.
If I had time and motivation I would stretch mine to 98 or 100 but then I would have to get 40" creepies.
