Only way to fix it right is to cut it out and put new metal in. If you want to slow it down then try Rust Bullet. Look it up. Single step product. Plus they always send product to raffle off at the Crawl. Look in our "Prefered Vendors" listing in our forum. There should be a link to the Co. there.

Good to know...thanks Lash.

you run a wire or a rope on your winch? My last Toy...a tacoma had the wire and I was thinking of trying the rope type this time...any ideas?

I run rope on my winch. I recommend that if you do run rope you run a biger rope than is called for on your truck. Ive broken 2.

Grogan discount..........:meh: whats that? (remember Im new!!!)

User name wngrog's name is Grogan. he was making a joke saying that mentioning Grogan will get you a discount on the HFS bumper, which it probably wont...

Currently wire until I win some rope at a trailride. Rope is on my list, but its below the more critical needs. I agree with Greg - go bigger diameter with rope.

I've never broken wire. Screw the rope, it's cool and all until it breaks!

But...but...Jeff, you have to admit that a color coordinated winch rope sure is purdy. ;)

Smarty pants!

It's been used several times and hasn't been to Wally World in years. Don't have to use it much because of my awesome driving ability!:flipoff2:

ha....got it....dont mention grogan when buying an HFS bumper or I might have to pay double...check

The rope route includes 3 things...bigger rope than rated for my 40 and also needs to be green to color coordinate so I get cool points with Sea Knight and don't use Wally World carts as anchor points.....check

So I have never welded in my life..I think given the fuel pump/carb issues im having the best option is to clean away the rust and bubbled paint and use Rust bullet, not POR 15, to slow the rust process and then later get it cut out.......

Anybody need a, I think, Smittybuilt tube bumper or CCOT brush guard bumper thingy.... http://coolfj40.stores.yahoo.net/brusguarsqua.html broadcast im selling both if you know anyone. Not sure what the tube bumper is worth and the brush guard was like $180 from CCOT but was discontinued. id be open to about any offer on them that gets me more than the .10 cents I have for a new HFS! (dang baby diapers will eat your pay check up!)

So the cattle guard and CCOT brush guard are on the garage floor and when I get time I am putting a picture on craigslist.

I have taken off the front grill (white part on most) mine was still the aluminum color so I am painting it in my efforts to get back closer to the stock look.

The HFS is ORDERED!!!! I am hoping it will be here by this weekend.

Also got a 72 mirror arm off the passenger side and dropped the windshield for errands today. Got lots of looks and comments...pretty cool....except my face is chapped!!! ;p

I still have 31. 10.5 tires, but they are new so I will wait before getting tires....gotta see about this fuel problem first....Sorry Chris...ill come see you soon though...:hhmm:

I hate im missing out on the Crawl, but gotta work...

Slowly making progress on the truck......peeled nasty purple tint off passenger side rear door between coats of paint on grill...doing the other one tomorrow night...BIG improvement.

Anyone with a 40 care to explain the best way to reinstall a top for winterized driving? I have a bunch of weather stripping and the truck has an almost cloth like, cottonish material where the top bolts through it. Is it best to lay the weather stripping in the truck and carefully lay the top on after? :hhmm:

Take pictures at the Crawl!!!

Get the HFS bumper for the Warn 8274 winch. The 8274 is THE FJ40 winch.

so i did mention wngrog when I called CCOT about the HFS and they hung up on me....so I had to order online:grinpimp:

in all seriousness...can't wait for the HFS to get here so I can bolt it on...isnt it illegal to run around with the frame hanging out and no bumper:hhmm:

not in Rankin County...:D
