What's this and where does it get routed to?

Sorry, I can't get a picture to post.

Ok guys, I got the goods from JimC and I have a couple of questions. The PO did a hack desmog and I need at some point to probably go back in and re-smog some things. That being said, there a large diameter outlet that comes off the driver's side of the carb, buy the green plug, where does this go? Somewhere back into the firewall? I believe it originally went to the canister to provide freash air back to the gas tank, but my canister is gone.

Thanks,
Phil

does this help... sorry without pic, I am no good to you. WHat year, I forgot what you have.

Thanks for reaching out. I have an 87 FJ60. Sorry, I will work on posting a pic. The large "port" that I am talking about is just to the right of the AC idle up and plug off the carb. I can see in some pics that it heads back to firewall or back of the engine, but can't tell where.

It looks like on Trollholes desmogged carbs that this is not even there. I could cap it if I need to.

Thanks,
Phil

Ok, since I can't figure out how to post my own pic, I "borrowed" this one from the site. The piece I am asking about is in the upper right of the pic (the large tube) it comes out and angles back towards the choke breaker and is capped.

Thanks,
Phil

pretty darn sure that's the fuel return line. But not positive.. Would have to get the FSM at home to verify.. Ping Jim.. If you don't get an answer from him post again and i'll try to remember this weekend to dig out a manual. In the middle of putting together the daily driver I picked up so not much time at home to spare.

try these

TO post pics, hit go advanced, scroll down and hit attach images or something like that. They have to be smaller, so I found emailing them to myself cuts down the size.

here are pics, and I think you are correct it is to the charcoal cannister.

Thanks again for all the help.

Ok, so I talked to JimC and he confirmed that it does go to the canister and since I don't have that anymore, I will cap it. On another note, Jim said I should add a filter element to the air return that goes to the tank.

Phil

yep as jim says just put a cap on it.

as for the vac line that goes to the tank you can either put a filter on it or run a hose from it to one of the ports on the intak between the air filter and the carb. It will help keep the fuel system from vaper locking.
