The 400k miles in the thread Trunk Monkey linked is pretty cool. I'd like to see a tally of the gas receipts on nearly half million miles.
Also, synthetic oil shouldn't be a factor, as long as you do regular oil changes at appropriate times.

We have a customer that bought my first 100 series that is currently at 375k miles last time it was in the shop. I sold it with 125k miles back in the day.

I doubt that the engine is the limiting factor in the service life of most 100 series which IIRC is supposed to be about 25 years.
So this is someone who uses it as intended?

Having rebuilt a 4.7 for my new project, I can assure you that the price is more than that if you do a quality rebuild with Toyota parts.
Yup, that is pretty much what it is used for. We have changed common maintenance and wear items, but no failures of major parts yet.

Best one I have seen (and a true testament to the 2UZ) was a customer that came in once with a locked up motor in a Tundra. Obviously, that was very unusual. We asked him about it, he had about 300k on the clock, used the truck for work, and hadn't changegd the oil in almost 100k miles! The motor ran fine before it seized the cam and snapped off the end of the cam, cam gear, and bolt holding it together.
Moral of the story: Extremely well built engine and will last a long time. If fact, both of my next vehicles will have 2UZs. 2008-09 V8 4Runner 4WD (for the wife), and an 06-07 100 series.

I saw one on Denver Craigslist a couple years ago with 450k or 500k. It still had the original engine and transmission. I don't remember exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure he was asking more than $10k for it.
Man did I screwup. Told my wife about all these high mileage 100's, so now she thinks we never need to buy another vehicle.
