Why don't you hold of on the lift for a bit and drive a couple of different set ups... we have a wide array of lifts in LLK!

Smartest thing I've read in a long time and yet it was so simple. Either way the lift isn't immediate. I went rock rails first, most likely lift second.

She's nimble now, just need a SUPERCHARGER!!!!!!!

It's driving great, I just need to adjust it down to level, I'm driving around with my nose in the air.

Lee, if you want some real world experience from someone who has the 6" lift, send Big Turtle (Josh) a PM on the blue room. Ask him about his and how he likes wheeling it. It just looks very, very top heavy and tippy to me. Josh wheels his but it makes me uneasy just watching him out there. Maybe the 6" lift is for him or you for that matter. Talk to Josh and like Brad said, test drive a couple of the rigs in the club to see how you like the different set-ups. Whatever you do, don't make any hasty decisions.....take your time.

Too bad they don't make one for the 2010+

I am being patient this time. Making informed decisions. I just had to jump on the sliders it was damn near 150 off.

Also did you see my post about tires a page back?

I'll bet Charles can make it happen. I hear he has an awesome set of tools. :hillbilly:

Understand the slider thing. And I did just now see your post about the tires. How are they since they are 5+ years old? Dry rot? Have they been mounted all this time? Stored indoors / out of the weather? How much for just the tires?

The tires have been kept out of the wheater the whole time they were stored. They went back and forth between a house and garage. I haven't seen them in about a month I can peep them out tonight. As far as I know no dry rot at all and more then 3/4 of the rubber left. As far as pricing I really don't know I would rather you just offer. You'll just be sponsoring next mod either way.

Awesome. Glad it works as it should.

Tin snips worked pretty good cutting rhino lined Bushwackers we cut around the snorkel installed on another FJC. I found them useful fitting the BWs on mine, as well a little mini butane torch.

Good tips!

I still need to finish up around my EXP1 rear bumper. I was also going to try out my heat gun on them.

Your vote still for King in the lift recommendation dept?

I would love to test drive one, but no one down here that I know of have Kings. I'm also nervous that I may want to switch if I test drive them.

I'm sure you've seen pics of my hack job around the Expo. In retrospect, I wish I would measured it a +1/2", heated the plastic then hemmed it. I cut it too much to create a hem, and too close so it's moving around a lot. Will be a future work day, of to not remove the things.

Keep in mind I'm running Radflo's on the the TC, and Glenn's been great to work with. Will probably follow suit on the 80.

That said, the OEM King Performance Series for an OEM width FJC with a 2.5" front lift, 1" rear (CSS coils) is the best on road ride and handling set up I ran in that format. Equate the ride quality to as good, or better, than either the GX470 or 460, on road, and it can be ordered "extended travel" as well.

King does produce a top quality product, and they know it. It shows in not only the price, but in the almost arrogance they exude. I got the feeling that since I wasn't building a 250k trophy truck, my inquiries were trivial, and that's what started the progression to search input from other sources.

Long story that's documented elsewhere, but started talking to Glenn at Radflo, and the rest is in the annuls of credit card statements past.

So, yes, King is still a high quality product, and I can suggest a much better company to deal with if going that route. Nothing rides like a King.

If you can find another shock manufacturer that can provide the level of customer service and attention that Radflo does, let me know.
Glenn was calling me from SEMA on Saturday night after reading an email I had sent about concerns over the 700lb coils.

How could I possibly run anything else?

(Apologies. Y'all know I'm wordy). Hahaha.

My hack job, for reference.

Covers the bumper wing, but I'm not about to cut the bumper for the sake of the BWs.

I agree Mike. I have seen my fair share of 3" lifts and 6" lifts out on the trail. 6" guys are more tippy on the same obstacles, same lines.

Since 35s can be fit with a 3" lift, just seems like a better option to keep the COG down for on road and offroad use.

I would also recommend Radflo shocks/coilovers. I would put them in the same quality level as ICONs having seen and installed both. Radflos customer service (mainly Glenn) is outstanding. He has returned PMs to me on here within minutes at midnight a couple times haha.

Kevin, who did you get to weld up your spindle gussets? Was it pretty hard? Lee has some spindles from his first FJ that he wants to get rid of if anyone wants to do this job with minimal down time.

I had a friend weld them for me. It took about an hour and a half of welding time. It appears that greater than beginner skills are needed.

Sorry Chris, I thought you went with the Kings.

After talking to Layton, woul definitely consider the Radflos if I were starting from scratch. I do wish to acknowledge Adrian, the shock tech at ICON who was very informative and helpfull when my shocks were revalved/upgraded.

I just dropped the front of my FJ about an inch and a half to level. There is almost no thread exposed on the passenger side.
