If you were closer I would take all of the body parts off you. I'll get the fenders and doors even w/ the distance.

you can reference the vin#/production date on the vin plate to find out the gear ratio.
i don't have that info though, i'm sure someone more familiar with later model 40s could hook you up

Well it looks like it is a 79. The build date is 2/79, and the axle code 05 2. I asked him about the bezel and he told me when he bought it didn't have one and that his friend had a complete apron with the bezel so he just swapped it. So it looks like I got my 3.70s after all.

That's a nice cruiser by east coast standards, not too bad by western. While I hate to think of that thing being stripped for parts, I'd be very interested in the windsheild frame if you're willing to ship it provided shipping and crating $$$ in addition to what everyou want for it.

I've had several people ask me about parts from this rig. I'm trying to figure out if I'll have time in the near future to get stuff removed and shipped or if this thing would be better served as a project for someone. I got it for the disk front end, but with it being complete it makes me wonder whether it shouldn't just stay together. If anyone else has a need for some of the parts, or is wanting the entire thing, shoot me an email and I'll see what I can get done.

Personaly i would fix it up and drive it. But i also understand not having room/time/$$ to fix it up. That is deffinitly a decent cruiser to fix...out here in the east worse ones than that are sold for more $$. I would say your best bet would be to sell the rig complete, either through ebay, Ih8mud, Pirate4x4.com, LCML, ect. Take that money and you could buy a set of 3.73 diffs from an FJ60 that were swapped out for 4:11s and a disk brake setup (knuckles, rotors, calipers, birfs ect from either a mini truck of FJ6/62) and you would be money and time ahead. If you are not proficeint at stripping trucks it can be a time consuming process, which cost you $$ if you think about it(how much is your time worth? would it be better spent doing something else?)...i really wish you were closer. I would offer you decent $$ for it as i would love a DD FJ40 instead of my tow rig.

I went ahead and posted the entire rig in the sale section for the amount I have in it, $700.00, plus a small donation to this site. Hopefully someone will get it and use it as a DD.
