I really want slider cargo windows like are available for 60s and 80s.

Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to make 5-10 sets?

Who should I reach out to in order to get the process going?

This would kill 2 birds....we (the manufacturer) would reproduce the cargo window weatherstrip in tandem as well, which could be used for fixed windows.

No idea who could do it, but I like the way you are thinking! Get that weatherstrip made! If you did things correctly, you could also make weatherstrip for fixed rear glass as well and sell them to all 12 of us...

Reckon this would be more practical.
They don’t do a 55 series, but I could ask what sort of numbers it would take. Would make it a lot more practical, still look somewhat factory. Removes the cargo window seals.
Are the cargo windows the same right through all 55?

Emu wing got back to me. $715 (Australian $$) a side, 250 shipping to US (same price for one or a pair)
They didn’t have a minimum number, but they do need a 55 to us to make the kit off. They are based in Melbourne.
Can be clear or tinted black. Would replace the factory window and seal.

“Also group buys of three or more pairs, attract a discount.
3 pairs @ 5%
5 pairs @ 10%
10 pairs or more @ 15%
Two singles count as pair too, must be same order.
Happy to post to individual addresses, shipping costs not included.”

I’m not overly fussed on them, don’t “need” then just yet. but may ump on board if there it a group buy of 10

715 a side, 1430 a pair. 250 shipping to us. Makes it 1680 a pair. If there was 10 pairs sold it makes it $1537 a pair.
At today’s exchange rate it’s just over $1200 US.
$1106 if there is a group buy of 10 pairs.

Still not cheap, as 8 said I’m not rush8ng out to buy. But if you have to pay $400 just for a seal, makes it reasonable. I’m not sure what the want for a sliding window is, just to open for air circulation or is it to access things? If you are doing it for access this would be 100% more practical.

inspiration. These appear to be 60 series windows, they also grafted on 60 series tail lights. Looks quite odd.

Still waiting on a call back from the slider manufacturer.

Spoken with Spector...as they offer an aftermarket slider for 60s....was told their supplier didn't see the demand to do a 55 version. I pushed for more info (what would it take, etc) and have not heard back.
Spoken with Hehr International (did the 45 top, as seen above)...they have been bought by Lippert products and no longer offer the custom window
Spoken with Motion windows in Vancouver WA. They COULD do it, but the smallest radius they can do is 2.5 in., and would really like it if all corners were the same (think RV/limo windows). This may be the biggest hurdle, as the 55 window is closer to a right angle in most edges, as opposed to the more curved 60 style.

If anyone has a cargo window out and would be willing to get some measurements, I'll pass it along to Motion and see if it would be a possibility.

Thanks

Here's the way to find the radius of the curves. I did a sketch below, which shows what I am trying to explain.

1. pick 2 points on the curved edge of the glass. Make a mark with a pencil or magic marker at each point.
2. Using a piece of string and a pencil/marker, Hold one end of the string on each point and draw and arc toward the center of the curve. In the attached picture, I drew the 2 arcs with an old fashion compass, but the string method/marker method will work. the string length must be the same for each arc that you draw.
3. where the 2 arcs intersect is the center of the curve. You can then measure the radius of the curve.
4. IF the arcs do not intersect, change the length of the string and try step 2 over.

(Yeah...I learned old fashion drafting before all the fancy CAD systems took over).
